  1. The PR I hate the most is pretty much the one that REMOVES N2 CANISTERS! I often play as slimepeople, and seeing this getting merged not only frustrating, but very stupid as well (why remove tanks for a race that needs them the most?). https://github.com/space-wizards/space-station-14/pull/25660
  2. The way the color of the lettering blends in with the background is gonna cause people eyesores. Even the tag colors look awful. I attached an image just for you to see. Just look at the screenshot of my guide to mapping I attached, with all the dark glory of the website. People might not be able to read it. Please change it, so people are able to read words without having to get eyesores. That would be really appreciated.
  3. Important: this post may be changed at any time with or without notice. Greeting, readers. As a person who has experience in sandbox enough to map things, I’ll give you some tips at how to map things in sandbox mode. It is important to note that only admins can save maps, and that, for a map to be able to be saved, it must be done in mapping zone and in mapping mode. Controls: In sandbox mode, you have access to a variety of tools around you. The menu can be accessed by clicking on a button with an image of a bucket and a shovel. There, you will see the “spawn entities” and “spawn tiles” buttons. Here is how you use these: - In the spawn entities menu, you may click on an entity then spawn said entity by clicking on the desired location; you can disable it by clicking the entity in the menu again. Do delete an object, click on the “delete entity” button, then click on an entity you wish to delete to delete that entity; you can disable it by clicking on the “delete entity” button again. A search bar is provided for easy access. - In the spawn tiles menu, click on the desired tile, then click on the desired location to spawn a tile; clicking on a location while “snapped” to an adjacent tile will spawn a tile attached to the adjacent tile, whilst clicking on a location away from the adjacent tile will spawn a new tile, therefore a new “grid map”. To delete a tile, select the “space” tile, then click on the desired tile to delete it. Standards of style: Building things needs some balance to it. So here is a general guide to how you build things. Guide: - Exterior walls and walls of rooms that are supposed to be secure must be of reinforced variant, unless there is no reinforced variant of said wall. - Interior walls are generally of the non-reinforced variant. - Same thing applies to windows. However, there should be grilles underneath the windows. - There needs to be flooring. Plating should only be present underneath walls and windows, and certain areas where flooring would impede servicing (such as maintenance hallways, certain generator rooms, and atmospherics). Lattice should only be done outside the station, as they can quickly vent gases out of any room it is located in. Electricity: - There is an order of flow coming from the generator to the machines: Generator > HV cables > SMES (optional) > Substation > MV cables > APC > LV cables > Power-consuming Machines - If you are in a SS14 server where the electricity constantly flickers, no matter the power, forego using the SMES and directly link the generator to the substations. - Any of the aforementioned components have to be able to be serviced. This means that substations should be stored within small rooms with engineer-only access in maintenance hallways; wiring should not be done underneath any walls, unless necessary; and any wiring should primarily be done within maintenance hallways, unless necessary. - it is preferred that you use plating first before you place the wiring, as other tiles will hide all wiring. Lighting: - All lighting uses normal lights, except in maintenance where small lights are used. - Make sure they’re attached to the walls. - Emergency lights should be present whenever possible. Atmospherics: - If there is not enough room for atmospherics, open air canisters to fill a room with air. - Atmospherics should contain at least a minimum of an oxygen miner, a nitrogen miner, and a simple network of pipes to distribute the gases to. - Preferably, the miners must be located in their own chambers where there should be passive vents within that connect to the main distribution network, via pumps. To allow control of the composition of gases, a mixer should be present with the inputs connecting to the pipes carrying gases from 2 different chambers. Before the main vents, a pump must be placed there to allow the vents to pump how much gases into the rooms. - The minimum waste network is a network consisting of scrubbers that flow gases from the rooms into space. A pump should be placed after the scrubbers to allow this to work. Make sure that there is a valve present before the passive vent in space. - You may connect some in the waste network into the distribution chambers by placing filters in which the 2nd output goes directly into the injectors located in each chamber. - There should be a color code to make recognition easier. Blue for distribution, red for waste. - Like wiring, any of the aforementioned components have to be able to be serviced. This requirement excludes piping coming into the rooms, though they are still required to not go under walls, unless when absolutely necessary. Disposals: - There is an order of flow coming from the bins to the disposal: Bins > Disposals pipe network > recycling system. - The recycling system consists of a number of conveyor belts that lead to the recycler, then space. - The aforementioned components must be able to be serviced. This means that they do not go under walls. Airlocks: - There should be tiny rooms with 2 external airlocks and a tiny fan to keep gases in, even better if one airlock bolts if you open another. - Any airlock room should have, at least, 1 emergency closet, wall or not. - If you want an airlock that can dock with others, use the external airlock. Pay attention to the ‘notches’, as they should be oriented outwards into space to allow docking. Style guide: Each faction has a different preferred style, which can be described below: - Nanotrasen stations: reinforced wall exteriors with solid wall interiors, windows made out of glass, and steel floors. - Nanotrasen shuttles: reinforced exterior shuttle wall exteriors with interior shuttle wall interiors, windows made out of shuttle windows, and shuttle floors of any colors. - Syndicate stations/shuttles: plastitanium wall exteriors and interiors and a hardened reinforced floors. That is all for now. Have a good day.
  4. Mine is saltern, because I consider it the “standard map” of SS14.
