Ban issue: I did what I was banned/noted for, but the ban is unreasonably harsh.
Events leading to the ban
I latejoined as a Cargo Technician and was assigned the Syndicate role. My objective was to kill a specific person.
During the round, I found the NTR’s briefcase and hid it. My intention was to use it as leverage and offer an exchange: I would return the briefcase in exchange for assistance with eliminating my target.
Later, I encountered the Captain, who said something involving “rabbies.” I misunderstood what he meant and thought he was referring to the Jewish priest or something similar.
Afterward, I was subjected to an extensive interrogation by the NTR, Captain, and BSO. During the interrogation, I was repeatedly threatened with consequences such as being Borged or lobotomized. The NTR also repeatedly referred to me as “Syndie scum,” despite, to my understanding, not having any concrete evidence that I was a Syndicate agent.
At some point, I made the statement, “One Israeli missile and [it’s] forgotten.” This was said in the context of the situation and was not intended as a serious statement targeting any real-world group or person.
Later, Carlander contacted me via AHelp and questioned me about why I had made that statement and some of my other actions. I explained the context and my reasoning. Afterward, I was informed that the incident would result in a ban and that I could appeal it if I wished to do so.
Reason the ban should be removed
I understand that what I said was inappropriate, and I take responsibility for making the statement. However, I feel that a permanent ban is quite harsh considering that there was roleplay context surrounding the situation and that the statement was made during an ongoing in-game interaction.
It has now been almost 6 weeks since the ban, and I believe I have had sufficient time to reflect on what happened. I would therefore like to respectfully ask whether the permanent ban could be reduced or, if possible, removed.
I understand that the staff team has to enforce the rules, and I am not trying to excuse what I said. I am simply asking for the context of the situation, my intentions, and the time that has passed since the incident to be taken into consideration.
I would appreciate another chance to play and demonstrate that I can avoid similar situations in the future.
