ChainXyle Posted October 19 Posted October 19 Check What's your Space Station 14 Username: ChainXyle What's your Discord Username: ChainXyle How long have you been playing Space Station 14?: Around 820H. (OPTIONAL) How long have you been playing Space Station 13?: I only played for like 1 hour. Now I am on Linux... What's your playtime amount on the Goob Station Server: 736H 27M. How old are you: 19. Have you ever been banned from the Goob Station Server: No, only 1 note. Have you played on any other SS13 or SS14 servers? If so, name them, and tell us your playtime on the server(s): 484H 15M on Wizden and about 30H on random MRP servers. ------------------------------------------ Time How many hours can you admin per week: Around 28 hours. On what days can you get on to Admin: Pretty much any day. What timezone are you in: Eastern Time. ------------------------------------------ General Questions Why do you want to become a Game Admin? Go into detail about it and tell us a lot about it: I have been a Trial Game Admin on Goob Station before when G was the Head Game Admin, I was demoted by G for reasons that made sense. I have since understood why I was demoted and wish to reapply and help make Goob Station a safe and fun server for everyone. This is my second time reapplying to become a Goob Station Admin. I am honestly surprised the Admin Application were opened again, so I am fully prepared to help make Goob Station a better place. Do you have any prior admin or staff experience on another SS13/SS14 server? If so, tell us about your experiences during that time, and if possible, give us proof of this: Besides being a Trial Game Admin on Goob Station, no. My experience as a Trial Game Admin on Goob Station was fun and made me feel good that others were having fun because of my actions. What role do you think the Game Admins exactly serve, in detail: What Game Admins are meant to do is help out others either in AHelps or Discord DMs, they ban raiders and other rule breakers, host events from time to time to spice up gameplay and just make playing on the server better. What are you primarily interested in doing as an admin?: Helping others with their problems, remove any rule-breakers as necessary, and make the server a fun place, and occasionally host a event like once or twice a week. What are you least interested in doing as an admin?: I was least interested in doing time transfers! They used to be so tedious and take too long. Now, I think it's just dealing with people that talk too much in ahelps and aren't being helpful. What makes you a great addition to Staff?: Since I was a Trial Game Admin recently on Goob Station, I know the Admin team already and I am also friends with a Game Admin, Tikibomb. I also have lots of time on my hands and usually just hop on to admin when I can. The more admins on means better moderation. I also been playing SS14 quite some time and have knowledge about every department besides SM. What do you think is the current roleplay status of the LRP server, what do you think can be done to improve it: I think the server is LRP while leaning towards NRP at times. I think that some things players do can be excused as a mistake but sometimes we just got self-antaggers because they think it's funny. The larger the player count is, the closer it leans towards NRP. Same happens if the player count is too low. (OPTIONAL) What do you think is the current roleplay status of the MRP server, what do you think can be done to improve it: I have never played on Goob MRP. I almost forgot there was an MRP server. I have played MRP before on other servers. Other than banning problematic players, what admin actions do you believe have the biggest positive impact?: Helping answer questions and just being friendly towards people thus making their days just a bit better. Handling tickets also helps along side hosting an event like once a week. Have you ever had a negative experience with a game admin (even on another SS13/14 server)? If so what, if anything, would you do differently?: I mean besides G, not really. G would be harsh and not let people explain, Greymaria was similar with her just banning someone for writing down a bad thing then 1 second later changing it. I would be less harsh and try to get the full picture before just banning someone, notes are very useful for this Have you ever had a good experience with the game or a game admin? If so, what was it?: Most of the Goob Station Admin Team, they helped me and Tikibomb learn how to admin properly and that friendly help is what we need more of. Every time I talk to an admin these days, I have a positive experience with them. In your opinion, what is the most important quality of an admin?: Being nice to others in AHelps and Discord. Being mean will just make players dislike the admins and make it harder to communicate with them. As long as you are helpful and friendly as an admin, while doing your job you will do great. Following the rules and understanding the rules is a key skill as well. ------------------------------------------ Scenarios Questions (You should put more than just one or two sentences.) It is the start of the round. There are 60 players on the server. The game mode is traitors, traitors have not been selected yet. There are three players who decided to observe the round instead of join it orbiting you. Two of them are encouraging you to “do something funny”. If I am a Trial Game Admin, I would ignore them. If I am a Game Admin though, I would go to my admin testing area and spawn some funny non-obtrusive stuff for them to mess with. I don't want to interfere with the round unless I plan on doing an event. If it's going to be a big event, I would make a vote to see if the players want the event. If another admin is doing an event I will communicate with them to try and help setup the event and keep it running smoothly. Say, someone who already has a note on RDM from before, for example, was to RDM and kill two people, but they've left already before you could admin help them. How would you handle the problem? I would ban them for the 2nd RDM Offence and for Evading Ahelp. If they contact me over Discord DMs, I would talk with them to figure out what happened. If we talk it out in a calm and civil manner, I would remove the Evading Ahelp ban time since they contacted me to sort out the issue. I would also tell any admins who ask about what happened the full story. Captain seems to have disconnected before they died or the round ended. This is the first time they've disconnected while playing a very important job. What would you do about them? I would leave an in-game message telling them that they should notify the admins before disconnecting or send a message over discord if they disconnected unexpectedly and can't rejoin. If this isn't the first time I would take action appropriately. If they are able to rejoin and do so I won't leave a note, but if they don't rejoin I will leave a note to let other admins know that this has happened before. You see a chemist who has only made basic meds start gathering materials and talking about making uranium foam grenades in chat. Right as they start making the grenades they roll as a midround sleeper Syndicate. How would you handle the situation if at all? I would leave a note that states "Went to go get materials for uranium foam grenades and announced on common about doing so. They got sleeper agent midround as they were making the grenades." This is to help other admins if they see that kind of activity again from that player. I would also ahelp them telling them to refrain from powergaming but let them know they did roll mid-round antag so it's not a huge problem this time. The Head of Security has decided to coup the Captain. The Head of Personnel agrees with the Head of Security and has taken up arms in case it is necessary to aid in effecting the arrest of the Captain. The Captain is hiding with the Quartermaster in the cargo shuttle to avoid the Clown who has stolen the captains saber as a non-antag. There are five people named in this scenario. Please describe what actions, if any, you would take in relation to each, and why. First I would inquire about why the HoS and HoP decided to overthrow the captain. If they did not ask CentCom first (IC) I would note them for incompetence and punish them accordingly. I would immediately ahelp the clown and note him for self-antagging. The Captain has a right to protect his/her life and the QM is just doing their job on the cargo shuttle. If the QM is just piloting the cargo shuttle away from the station it would become a problem and I would ahelp them telling them not to just take the shuttle and fly away. You see a clown using crayon to write on the floor in front of security. The clown writings are negative things about security, like “shitsec”. A secoff tells the clown that they’re being arrested for vandalism, stuns them, and cuffs them. Before the secoff is able to get the clown into the brig, a passenger slips the secoff, causing them to lose their baton, then uses the baton to stun another secoff that comes to help as the clown runs away. The passenger escapes through disposals. Having heard an AOS radio callout, the detective enters maintenance near disposals and shoots the passenger to crit. There are four players in this scenario, the clown, the passenger, the secoff, and the detective. If the clown wrote anything that is against the server rules on the floor I would take action accordingly, if not then I would take no action. If the secoff arrested the clown for a first offence of vandalism, I would ahelp him advising him about space law and that the first offence of vandalism is a warning while the next offences are arrests. If the passenger isn't an antag, I would ahelp him asking why he interfered with the secoff's arrest and leave a note unless they have already self-antagged before, then I would ban them for the appropriate time. If this is the first time the detective over-escalated, I would a leave a note and ahelp them telling them that they should try to use a stun baton or disabler instead of just shooting them with lethals. If the detective has a history of over-escalation, I would ahelp them telling them they should stop over-escalating and should use non-lethals instead while banning them after for the correct time. You and another Admin have been doing your job without problems, you then catch a command staff member misuse contraband. While you are in the middle of the ahelp, the other admin jumps into the middle of your ahelp with a rule clarification that is plainly incorrect. Without the interruption, what would have you asked the command staff member, and how would you have responded or reacted to the interrupting admin? Without the interruption I would ask them why they used the contraband and tell them they should not be misusing contraband. With the interruption, I would tell the other admin in admin chat that they got the rule clarification wrong and ahelp the command player with the proper rule clarification while apologising for the other admin's incorrect rule clarification. You are ahelping a player about an issue. The player has no prior noted issues. A few days earlier, an admin had told you that this type of situation should result in a temporary ban for a first offense, and you are confident that this situation is not substantially different from the type that admin was describing. During the ahelp, another admin pings you on Discord with a link to the ongoing ahelp and tells you to just indefinitely ban them and make them appeal. Excluding Trial Game Admins, Senior Game Admins and Head Game Admins, all admins are equally “ranked”. A headmin is not currently available. I would try to get the opinion of a Senior Game Admin or other Game Admins if that is justified. If a Head Game Admin asks why they were perma banned, I would explain what happened and that they weren't available. I would also let them know who told me to perma ban them and everything that lead to that point.
ChainXyle Posted October 23 Author Posted October 23 As I have now played on Goob MRP for a while I will update one of the questions: (OPTIONAL) What do you think is the current roleplay status of the MRP server, what do you think can be done to improve it: I think it is MRP and is staying MRP. The people keep the roleplay going and there are very little raiders from my experience.
