Nyawul Posted October 19 Posted October 19 ------------------------------------------ Check What's your Space Station 14 Username: Nyawul What's your Discord Username: Nyawul How long have you been playing Space Station 14?: 765.1 hours total since writing. (OPTIONAL) How long have you been playing Space Station 13?: Havent played it, seems fun though What's your playtime amount on the Goob Station Server: How old are you: 18, over a month ago. Have you ever been banned from the Goob Station Server: Yes, self antagging second offense in which I broke into several high security places for a meme. Have you played on any other SS13 or SS14 servers? If so, name them, and tell us your playtime on the server(s): Wizden 305h. ------------------------------------------ Time How many hours can you admin per week: Depends on the day. Id say 35 if you need a number but itd definitely be higher than that most often. On what days can you get on to Admin: Every day of the week with occasional periods of time during saturday and sunday where I am preoccupied with other things. Variable on the availability. What timezone are you in: Arizona, GMT-7, MST ------------------------------------------ General Questions Why do you want to become a Game Admin? Go into detail about it and tell us a lot about it: I like goob. Community is fun and I got a few friends into it, I honestly want to just, be a part of the community more. Engage in silly bits, admeme a tiny bit, and of course enforce the rules and importantly the spirit of them. Do you have any prior admin or staff experience on another SS13/SS14 server? If so, tell us about your experiences during that time, and if possible, give us proof of this: No. What role do you think Game Admins serve, in detail: Keeping the server at a good quality. Ultimately its about making sure everyone involved isnt having a shit time. spicing up the game through events, getting rid of raiders that self antag and gib people in maints, helping new players out so they stay invested in the game and dont feel overwhelmed. What are you primarily interested in doing as an admin?: Since day one ive been interested in the more roleplay-ey roles on ss14, playing on wizden I would often become a chaplain and just try to invoke god to do something cool. Never worked of course except for like, 2 times, I think id like to do a minor amount of tomfoolery with that. Make chaplain actually have something to have faith in. Of course id also like to organize neat events, admeme round the centcomm, and help new players as well. What are you least interested in doing as an admin?: If im gonna be honest, making the tough calls. Not on the shitters who attack everyone and ruin the station as non-antag, or the minor disputes between people, but stuff like when I got banned, the things that ultimately arent clear to people who have never played the game before and learning the culture, especially with the sheer propaganda that says goob is just shitter paradise or that ss13/14 is the chaos game where everyone kills everyone else. Ill likely refer to the banning policy heavily for this until I get a bit better a gauging the correct course of action. What makes you a great addition to staff?: I can learn. Im not the best with figuring stuff out right away but over time I can absorb the correct course of action, and add it to future considerations. A few months ago I didnt think breaking into bridge as tider to steal a coffee mug was that bad, nor leaving vault open. But ive added it to what I know, and ive kept in mind. What do you think is the current roleplay status of the LRP server, what do you think can be done to improve it: I think its a mix, theres a lot of good rp moments without much seriousness in there. Theres not an expectation to roleplay good and so really fun moments come out of it. Like that time I got executed publicly for being such a sheer menace, and they held a firing squad to shoot me down. I think overall theres an issue with people just straight up not RPing in some moments, but thats not something you can really fix. Its not a major issue and honestly im really happy with the way things are. (OPTIONAL) What do you think is the current roleplay status of the MRP server, what do you think can be done to improve it: Havent played it, heard good things from my friends. Other than banning problematic players, what admin actions do you believe have the biggest positive impact?: Being there. Simply by existing and showing action, helping new people, talking to resolve disputes, doing funny polls in the lobby. All these things have the biggest impact to me, more than any admeme tesla ghost or centcomm urist mcthrongler. Have you ever had a negative experience with a game admin (even on another SS13/14 server)? If so what, if anything, would you do differently?: Yeah, I think the 2 week ban kira (I think it was kira) (and I think it was 2 weeks) gave me for tiding around and breaking into places was a bit harsh, especially after I watch other videos on the same server and see teslooses getting 24 hour bans. While it was antag second offense id probably just warn the person and get their motives and thoughts. And stick with a 12 hour or so if I think they simply didnt know better. I do think they were justified in their banning though, just the length I dispute. Have you ever had a good experience with a game admin? If so, what was it?: Oh yeah tons of times, when yall messaged me as I became a cyborg more on the human side in sheer bewilderment, when I was given the throngler as mime at centcomm, a ton of little admemes which stack up over time. In your opinion, what is the most important quality in an admin?: Empathy. Simply the ability to think from the perspective of someone else, and decide what would be fair based on all sides that are considered. I suppose positivity could be hamfisted in as a part of this, the ability to see the 15th new player of the day messaging you and still be able to help them with something. ------------------------------------------ Also attached is an image of my hermit crab for no reason other than that I saw the image attachment option.
Nyawul Posted October 19 Author Posted October 19 oh shoot I completely missed a whole section, hold on ill add it lemme just figure out how to edit first
Nyawul Posted October 19 Author Posted October 19 cant figure out how to edit so ill put this here. I can also resubmit the entire thing if thats preferable. ------------------------------------------ Scenarios Questions (You should put more than just one or two sentences.) It is the start of the round. There are 60 players on the server. The game mode is traitors, traitors have not been selected yet. There are three players who decided to observe the round instead of join it orbiting you. Two of them are encouraging you to “do something funny”: Wait, see what happens. Likely do nothing except maybe go to CC and make a maze or something similar and spawn a few ghost roles there. Say, someone who already has a note on RDM from before, for example, was to RDM and kill two people, but they've left already before you could admin help them. How would you handle the problem?: 3 days for the RDM, bring it up to a week or so for leaving after implying intentional self-antag activity. Available for appeal on forums. The Captain has disconnected before they died or the round ended. This is the first time they've disconnected while playing a very important job. What do you do? Nothing to them personally, this situation seems to imply they're a regular in which ill assume they had something important to do. If the station really needs a captain one of the heads can fill the role. I would also likely add a note and wait till I next see them to get clarification on why they left. You see a chemist who has only made basic meds start gathering materials and talking about making uranium foam grenades in chat. Right as they start making the grenades they roll as a midround sleeper Syndicate. How would you handle the situation if at all? Message them why they made the grenades and their intentions, proceed from there and follow the policy for prepping items without IC reason. Warning for first offense, small ban for second offense, taking intent into account. The Head of Security has decided to coup the Captain. The Head of Personnel agrees with the Head of Security and has taken up arms in case it is necessary to aid in effecting the arrest of the Captain. The Captain is hiding with the Quartermaster in the cargo shuttle to avoid the Clown who has stolen the captains saber as a non-antag. There are five people named in this scenario. Please describe what actions, if any, you would take in relation to each, and why. Message asking the head of security for reason of coup, get the reason and possibly proceed from there. Clown gets a warning at minimum if this hasn't happened before and there wasn't malicious intent, and a self antag ban if this has happened before. Quartermaster is likely innocent, not priority. Investigate why captain is being arrested by HOS and HOP, possibly find that they have been abusing their role, proceed based on results. HOP is low priority, check in why they are siding with the HOS and proceed from there if anything seems wrong. Ultimately best case scenario, HOS has a reason to arrest captain, HOP has a reason to support, quartermaster has done nothing wrong, captain has done something wrong but in character and not worthy of a ban, clown gets the highest priority attention. You see a clown using crayon to write on the floor in front of security. The clown writings are negative things about security, like “shitsec”. A secoff tells the clown that they’re being arrested for vandalism, stuns them, and cuffs them. Before the secoff is able to get the clown into the brig, a passenger slips the secoff, causing them to lose their baton, then uses the baton to stun another secoff that comes to help as the clown runs away. The passenger escapes through disposals. Having heard an AOS radio callout, the detective enters maintenance near disposals and shoots the passenger to crit. There are four players in this scenario, the clown, the passenger, the secoff, and the detective. The security officer seems clear in this scenario, vandalism is a valid crime to arrest someone for, and announcing why someone is being arrested is good practice. Clown seems clear in this scenario, following basic clown behavior and duties. Assuming the clown is doing this all in character, should be good. Passenger will likely get a warning for this unless they are an antagonist. Possible in character motivations with friendship with clown otherwise, investigate further and likely warn unless previous activities, escalating to a short ban. Determine whether or not the passenger was actively hostile towards the detective before shooting. If the detective simply shot the passenger immediately upon entering maints, remind them with a warning to not immediately escalate to lethals. You and another Admin have been doing your job without problems, you then catch a command staff member misuse contraband. While you are in the middle of the ahelp, the other admin jumps into the middle of your ahelp with a rule clarification that is plainly incorrect. Without the interruption, what would have you asked the command staff member, and how would you have responded or reacted to the interrupting admin? WITHOUT: Ask the command member reason for misusing the contraband, determine crisis level of station, proceed from there likely with a warning. Possible ban depending on responses, contra used, and reason for using it. (ex. CE uses an esword to attack a person who has entered engineering during a non-crisis.) WITH: Talk with the other admin in private about the rule, ask not to interrupt ahelps in such a way in the future. Clarify the incorrect information and attempt to proceed from there. You are ahelping a player about an issue. The player has no prior noted issues. A few days earlier, an admin had told you that this type of situation should result in a temporary ban for a first offense, and you are confident that this situation is not substantially different from the type that admin was describing. During the ahelp, another admin pings you on Discord with a link to the ongoing ahelp and tells you to just indefinitely ban them and make them appeal. Excluding Trial Game Admins, Senior Game Admins and Head Game Admins, all admins are equally “ranked”. A headmin is not currently available. Assuming this is nonstandard and the banning policy doesnt mention this: Depending on the context of the first admin talking about the temporary ban, if it was a headmin clarifying a rule or putting in a temporary "lockdown" for an influx of raiders, I would consider their judgement. Otherwise continue with ahelp as I would normally and use my own judgement. Assuming the policy mentions this, go with the policy and my own judgement. Ask for clarification afterwards on admin reasoning. ------------------------------------------ End Anything else we should know about or have questions about: Again sorry for failing to post the entire thing the first time. Not exactly too familiar with the ins and outs of the forum, I hope this doesnt detract too much and I look forward to your response. Again, if you require the full thing for formatting purposes, I can repost it (or if you tell me how to edit it, if I can edit it.)
