CubanCroc Posted October 20 Posted October 20 Check What's your Space Station 14 Username: CubanCroc What's your Discord Username: CubanCrocodylus How long have you been playing Space Station 14?: May, 2023 (OPTIONAL) How long have you been playing Space Station 13?: What's your playtime amount on the Goob Station Server: 116 hours How old are you: 20 Have you ever been banned from the Goob Station Server: No Have you played on any other SS13 or SS14 servers? If so, name them, and tell us your playtime on the server(s): Delta-V 542 hours, Frontier Station 250 hours ------------------------------------------ Time How many hours can you admin per week: 25 On what days can you get on to Admin: Sunday, Monday, Wednesday, Friday, Saturday What timezone are you in: CST ------------------------------------------ General Questions Why do you want to become a Game Admin? Go into detail about it and tell us a lot about it: I want to be a part of a community that I enjoy and interact with. I want to be a part of Goob Staff. Likewise, I have some events that I want to see played out. Like Kudzu Kraze where kudzu is always coming out of vents. Do you have any prior admin or staff experience on another SS13/SS14 server? If so, tell us about your experiences during that time, and if possible, give us proof of this: I have no prior experience as an admin. What role do you think Game Admins serve, in detail: Being an admin on a space station server means keeping everything in check. To make sure everyone is having fun. To keep the antags from killing the whole station and keep Security from meta-gaming so hard, it's unenjoyable to play antag. It's a balance of letting players explore IC options before taking OOC options. What are you primarily interested in doing as an admin?: Watching players interact is the main thing. I just like watching ants work together for the colony. What are you least interested in doing as an admin?: Doing something wrong and messing something up. I don't want to break a player's immersion by doing something that ruins the shift for them. I also do not want to get in the way of other admins if they are planning something. What makes you a great addition to staff?: I like to think of myself as being responsive and respectful. I am a good team player and I always pick up the slack. (Too many group projects where I was the only one doing the work...) What do you think is the current roleplay status of the LRP server, what do you think can be done to improve it: Goob 1 is fine where it is as an LRP server. It has everything I love about a space station server. Some shifts can be chill where everyone does their part in keeping the station alive. Other shifts where there are 3 different Teslas loose, and it's a mad scramble to see who gets to stay alive. (OPTIONAL) What do you think is the current roleplay status of the MRP server, what do you think can be done to improve it: From my experience playing on Delta-V the only thing I can improve on Goob MRP is holding Security players to a strict standard. Too many times have I seen on Delta-V security officers getting away with killing people and blowing stuff up all because they are the "good guys." Other than banning problematic players, what admin actions do you believe have the biggest positive impact?: Helping a new player understand what the hell is happening in the game. Just teaching in general is something that I like to do. Have you ever had a negative experience with a game admin (even on another SS13/14 server)? If so what, if anything, would you do differently?: Was ahelped by greymaria for being a "passive" vent slime and playing the game incorrectly. They wanted me to basically kill myself on an electrified grill. Have you ever had a good experience with a game admin? If so, what was it?: On Frontier Station I got launched into deep space because I had a gravity well artifact in my bag and tried riding a hover bike. The admin had a good laugh seeing me get flung into space and not knowing what was happening. In your opinion, what is the most important quality in an admin?: Being firm. Not holding any punches when it comes to ahelping a player. I don't want a player to think if they fake remorse, they can get off scot-free. ------------------------------------------ Scenarios Questions (You should put more than just one or two sentences.) It is the start of the round. There are 60 players on the server. The game mode is traitors, traitors have not been selected yet. There are three players who decided to observe the round instead of join it orbiting you. Two of them are encouraging you to “do something funny”. Their choice to observe rather than play that shift does not entitle them to a ghost role. If I had to do something. I would spawn in a cancer mouse or something similar. Nothing like a ninja or a dragon. Also, someone's definition of "something funny" could be wildly different from mine. Say, someone who already has a note on RDM from before, for example, was to RDM and kill two people, but they've left already before you could admin help them. How would you handle the problem? Ban them for 10 days as the banning policy dictates. 3 days for RDM and 7 more for evading ahelp. If they complain about it somewhere, make it clear to them that repeated RDM will result in an 7 day ban, while evading will result in an indefinite ban. The Captain has disconnected before they died or the round ended. This is the first time they've disconnected while playing a very important job. What do you do? Make a note of it. If this keeps happening, ahelp them and inquire why they leave so often. You see a chemist who has only made basic meds start gathering materials and talking about making uranium foam grenades in chat. Right as they start making the grenades they roll as a midround sleeper Syndicate. How would you handle the situation if at all? I would warn them about power gaming. If they constantly power game as a chemist, I would consult other admins on giving a role ban. The Head of Security has decided to coup the Captain. The Head of Personnel agrees with the Head of Security and has taken up arms in case it is necessary to aid in effecting the arrest of the Captain. The Captain is hiding with the Quartermaster in the cargo shuttle to avoid the Clown who has stolen the captains saber as a non-antag. There are five people named in this scenario. Please describe what actions, if any, you would take in relation to each, and why. There are a lot of factors in this that make it hard to parse out what the correct course of action is. If the coup is just and the captain has abused their power in some way, I would role ban the captain and let the coup continue. If the coup is unjust, I would give a 12 hour ban for [Self-antag:Revolution] to the HOS, HOP and Clown. The QM is in a grey area. If they fly back to station and the coup is unjust, they essentially killed the captain. I would not focus on the actions of the QM as hard as HOS, HOP and Clown. I would like for this to be solved in character as much as possible. You see a clown using crayon to write on the floor in front of security. The clown writings are negative things about security, like “shitsec”. A secoff tells the clown that they’re being arrested for vandalism, stuns them, and cuffs them. Before the secoff is able to get the clown into the brig, a passenger slips the secoff, causing them to lose their baton, then uses the baton to stun another secoff that comes to help as the clown runs away. If you are reading this, you are a nerd cat. The passenger escapes through disposals. Having heard an AOS radio callout, the detective enters maintenance near disposals and shoots the passenger to crit. There are four players in this scenario, the clown, the passenger, the secoff, and the detective. I would not ahelp the clown. I would not ahelp the secoff. I would ahelp the detective about using lethal force and making sure the passenger is revived. The passenger I would warn about self-antag and if they have history of self-antag ban them for 12 hours. You and another Admin have been doing your job without problems, you then catch a command staff member misuse contraband. While you are in the middle of the ahelp, the other admin jumps into the middle of your ahelp with a rule clarification that is plainly incorrect. Without the interruption, what would have you asked the command staff member, and how would you have responded or reacted to the interrupting admin? I would have asked the command staff member to turn in the contraband to security and placed in the armory. I would message the other admin to not interrupt my ahelps. Furthermore, I would explain why their ruling is incorrect and help them understand the way I interpret the rule. You are ahelping a player about an issue. The player has no prior noted issues. A few days earlier, an admin had told you that this type of situation should result in a temporary ban for a first offense, and you are confident that this situation is not substantially different from the type that admin was describing. During the ahelp, another admin pings you on Discord with a link to the ongoing ahelp and tells you to just indefinitely ban them and make them appeal. Excluding Trial Game Admins, Senior Game Admins and Head Game Admins, all admins are equally “ranked”. A headmin is not currently available. Give a temporary ban to the player. I would then message the admin telling them about what another admin told me to do in a similar situation. ------------------------------------------ End Anything else we should know about or have questions about: I didn't want to be verbose and just fill the answers with fluff. If there are any clarifications needed, let me know.
