Carmello Posted November 2 Posted November 2 What's your Space Station 14 Username: Carmelo What's your Discord Username: Carmel0 How long have you been playing Space Station 14?: 1 and a half years What's your playtime amount on the GoobStation Server: How old are you: 18 Have you ever been banned from the Goob Station Server: Once for working with known antags, I healed a wizard for a trial at centcom Have you played on any other SS13 or SS14 servers? If so, name them, and tell us your playtime on the server(s): Wizden: 600+ hours Frontier: 300+ hours Others: 200+ hours ------------------------------------------ Time How many hours can you admin per week: 5-15 On what days can you get on to Admin: Everyday after 4pm CST What timezone are you in: CST ------------------------------------------ General Questions Why do you want to become a Game Admin? Go into detail about it and tell us a lot about it: I’ve been playing goob and space station for so long I’ve done practically everything. I feel like my experience with the community could help me to lead it, using what Ive gained and passing it onto others. I also absolutely despise shitters and rule breakers, and I’d love to help out against them. Do you have any prior admin experience on another SS13/SS14 server? If so, tell us about your experiences during that time, and if possible, give us proof of this: I am a current admin on Arcadis station, which has given me a lot of experience with the admin tools and consoles What role do you think the Game Admins exactly serve: Admins ensure that the round runs smoothly, banning/warning rule breakers, shitters, and raiders. They also serve as a role model to the community, help out on the discord, and occasionally run events, keeping the server alive and running. What are you primarily interested in doing as an admin?: Banning/enforcing the rules, setting an example to new players and teaching them, helping out in the discord. What are you least interested in doing as an admin?: Coding and forums What makes you a great addition to Staff?: I already have a lot of experience admining. I’ve been on Arcadis for around half a year and have been playing SS14 for a year and a half and have gained familiarity with classic space station rules, space law, the community, the admin console and to a degree the engine and codebase. I can hit the ground running, requiring a lot less tutoring than other trialmins. I’m also fairly well liked in the community, having been here for a long time and having been in a staff position for 3/4 of a year. Moreover, I feel like I’ve built enough trust so you guys don’t have to worry about me shitmining. All in all, I feel I’d be able to just kind click into the team as if I’d always been there. What do you think is the current roleplay status of the server, what do you think can be done to improve it: Id describe goob as “chaotic MRP”, with the chaos and tiding of a LRP server, but generally these tiders don’t self antag as much. There is less focus on a cohesive chain of command, meaning sec and command roles are less fun. However, there is a focus on fun and civilian roles, with promoted individuality and gimmicks. Other than banning problematic players, what admin actions do you believe have the biggest positive impact?: Interacting with and leading the community on discord is a major role. Your the role model, and have the most power. Players look up to you, and by being positive and giving back to the community you create a more inclusive environment, promoting the community to grow. Admins also have the ability to run events, which when done well and sparingly can be insanely fun. Have you ever had a negative experience in the game or with a game admin? If so what, if anything, would you do to prevent other players from experiencing this?: I’ve never had a explicitly bad encounter with a goob admin, but some admins on other servers seem to up tight and take their role too seriously. If I was a admin, I’d make sure to treat players as somewhat equal to me, and not look down on anyone. Our job is to be an unbiased party, not to be the police, and not to seek out reasons to ban people. Have you ever had a good experience with the game or a game admin? If so, what was it?: I’ve had a lot of fun with the events run on goob. Some of my favorite rounds have been event rounds. Although I understand how not every round can be a event it’s still a really fun gamemode, and I look highly on goob for our creative event ideas. In your opinion, what is the most important quality of an admin?: Indifference. If admins had bias to certain players, goob would suck. Being banned because you aren’t liked has to be one of the most annoying things, and by being fair and just you can find much more success. ------------------------------------------ Scenarios Questions (You should put more than just one or two sentences.) It is the start of the round. There are 60 players on the server. The game mode is traitors, traitors have not been selected yet. There are three players who decided to observe the round instead of join it orbiting you. Two of them are encouraging you to “do something funny”. Assuming nothing goes wrong and there are other admins on, I would spawn the 2 in some sort of admin room, maybe run a gimmick, sidlineing it when something comes up from ahelps. After I’d log the event in the proper channel. However, if anything goes wrong in the round, that’s my first priority. Say, someone who already has a note on RDM from before, for example, was to RDM and kill two people, but they've left already before you could admin help them. How would you handle the problem? I would issue an appeal only ban. Repeated offenses are not to be taken lightly, and assuming this is true, unwarranted RDM and a ahelps evasion, this seems like raider behavior. If they can’t explain themselves in the ahelp, they should go do it on the forums. I would, however, check the forums often and attempt to speed up the process if they have a good reason. Captain seems to have disconnected before they died or the round ended. This is the first time they've disconnected while playing a very important job. What would you do about them? I would move them to their office, and wait to see if they come back. If they don’t, I’d manually cryo them. I would also look on the discord for a ticket about it assuming they dropped connection, as this is the first time this has happened. Depending on if they went SSD by clearly sitting down in a chair in their office and just never coming back, maybe a note would be warranted. You see a chemist who has only made basic meds start gathering materials and talking about making uranium foam grenades in chat. Right as they start making the grenades they roll as a midround sleeper Syndicate. How would you handle the situation if at all? I would issue a warning for “plotting to RDM” and ahelp them, warning them to not RDM. However, if their objectives line up with murder, I’d tell them they can carry on and make the grenades. This would change depending on if the grenades were being made before or after the mid round sleeper, because intent plays an important role. Nevertheless, if he RDMs the entire station with a steal objective it would be a note. You see a clown using crayon to write on the floor in front of security. The clown writings are negative things about security, like “shitsec”. A secoff tells the clown that they’re being arrested for vandalism, stuns them, and cuffs them. Before the secoff is able to get the clown into the brig, a passenger slips the secoff, causing them to lose their baton, then uses the baton to stun another secoff that comes to help as the clown runs away. The passenger escapes through disposals. Having heard an AOS radio callout, the detective enters maintenance near disposals and shoots the passenger to crit. There are four players in this scenario, the clown, the passenger, the secoff, and the detective. The secoff and clown aren’t at fault here. The clown was just fucking around, and vandalism is a reasonable reason for arrest, if not a bit harsh. If the secoff puts an unreasonable time this might change, but that’s not mentioned here. The passenger is clearly self antaging, but it’s not a very major degree. Most likely a low severity note. The detective is also being fairly incompetent, shooting down a random passenger. Again, low severity warning. I’d also instruct him to take the passenger to medical. You and another Admin have been doing your job without problems, you then catch a command staff member misuse contraband. While you are in the middle of the ahelp, the other admin jumps into the middle of your ahelp with a rule clarification that is plainly incorrect. Without the interruption, what would have you asked the command staff member, and how would you have responded or reacted to the interrupting admin? Assuming they were just fucking around with the contro, I’d probably just issue a medium severity warning. I’d also tell the admin how the clarification is incorrect and explain rationally, also hearing them out as context may be missing. (Also, there’s nothing mentioning misuse of contro in the banning policy? Someone should update that) You are ahelping a player about an issue. The player has no prior noted issues. A few days earlier, an admin had told you that this type of situation should result in a temporary ban for a first offense, and you are confident that this situation is not substantially different from the type that admin was describing. During the ahelp, another admin pings you on Discord with a link to the ongoing ahelp and tells you to just indefinitely ban them and make them appeal. Excluding Trial Game Admins, Senior Game Admins and Head Game Admins, all admins are equally “ranked”. A headmin is not currently available. I would check the admin ban guidelines and come to a conclusion based on my own reasoning. First though, I’d hear the other admin out, because it could be an alt account, or a known shitter from another sever, or a bajillion other valid reasons to issue a permanent ban. ------------------------------------------ End Anything else we should know about or have questions about: I’m like already a admin? Kind of? Idk? Edited Monday at 10:47 PM by Skibidi_Toliet Replacing text. •
