General Questions

Why do you want to become a Game Admin? Go into detail about it and tell us a lot about it:
The low pop of admins and the general time I get on being the dead time for other admins. I want to help new players and fix the issues that may arise from round to round, such as cargo ship being stuck in ATS. It's nice to help others out when their is something easily solvable given the power to do so. Also, if there ends up becoming more servers, admins will be split and I'd like to ensure that there is always one online when possible.

Do you have any prior admin or staff experience on another SS13/SS14 server? If so, tell us about your experiences during that time, and if possible, give us proof of this: No.

What role do you think Game Admins serve, in detail:
Admins serve a variety of roles, I believe. They can be the assistants for new players that are learning, a guiding force to prevent dangerous mistakes. They can be a fixer for bugs and glitches. They can be the judge, jury, and executioner for rule breakers that ruin others' fun.
All in all, I believe that the game admin is there to keep a fun environment and community for everyone involved, and to ensure that, that fun is not ruined by bugs, rulebreakers, and the likes.

What are you primarily interested in doing as an admin?:
Ensuring that rulebreakers aren't left to their own devices and keeping the round running smoothly. I wouldn't want the station to get wiped out and then have several people watching until the evac shuttle auto-deploys. I'd also like to ensure that gamebreaking bugs and/or freezes to the server are circumvented when possible.

What are you least interested in doing as an admin?:
I don't really have anything that disinterests me. I've done a lot of staffing back in TTT on Garry's Mod, so I'm used to having to fill out reports and deal with escalators.

What makes you a great addition to staff?:
I've an interest in helping around and doing so in the off-hours that the servers seem to experience. I genuinely enjoy when everyone is having fun. I've also experience in programming so I might be able to help with random bugs that my occur over time. This community is great, and I want to keep it snob-free, within rules.

What do you think is the current roleplay status of the LRP server, what do you think can be done to improve it:
The LRP server is honestly an anomaly. It bounces from moments of NRP to MRP which I think is great. When you have over 80 players, roleplay seems to pull back to allow for more mechanics-based gameplay for surviving. I like that about the server, and I don't think there is much that should/could be done to improve it outside of adding more content over time. As an addition with my second application, having more than tripled my playtime on LRP, I believe that it is also a great server for newcomers, with many people helping new players while those in command help each other out and have a higher roleplay as well. It's nice to have a lot of roleplay even when it isn't explicitly required.

(OPTIONAL) What do you think is the current roleplay status of the MRP server, what do you think can be done to improve it:
Having played on the MRP server quite a bit. I love the MRP server and the rule system for it is compact and balanced. I don't think there is much to change outside of finishing the port of content from Goob 1 and slowly integrating it into a position with role timers, but these are all still in the testing phase, so this feedback isn't of much use at the moment.
As for the roleplay status, it honestly borders HRP at times with that classic pullback for a more mechanics-focused gameplay when it is necessary, such as massive station problems. I've had a lot of fun in the MRP server, even when pop is under 15. It has a balanced and playful atmosphere without the rushing tension feel that Goob LRP gets sometimes.

Other than banning problematic players, what admin actions do you believe have the biggest positive impact?:
As I said before, admins aren't just for dealing with problematic players. They tend to be the helping hand for bugs, new players, and round balancing when necessary. It's always nice to have someone in a position of power that can help you out with a rare bug or learning a new experience.

Have you ever had a negative experience with a game admin (even on another SS13/14 server)? If so what, if anything, would you do differently?:
I've not really had any negative experiences with admins.

Have you ever had a good experience with a game admin? If so, what was it?:
I had a time where we got too into the roleplay and ended up escalating the security situation, as a prisoner, to a degree of murder on the MRP. Technically that qualifies for execution, but we worked around it as players with admin helping us to follow the space law correctly. It was a said and done deal, but it was fun while doing it, and I was glad that neither side was round removed since we were basically making our own drama. Prisoner gaming is fun.

In your opinion, what is the most important quality in an admin?:
The ability to take everything into perspective and be lenient where necessary. Sometimes the maximum sentence isn't always necessary. Everything is on a case-by-case basis, so sometimes leniency is nice to have. As long as the point is across, I think some mercy is a good quality. This isn't to say that indefinite gamebans can be lenient, to clarify.

------------------------------------------

Scenarios Questions (You should put more than just one or two sentences.)

It is the start of the round. There are 60 players on the server. The game mode is traitors, traitors have not been selected yet. There are three players who decided to observe the round instead of join it orbiting you. Two of them are encouraging you to “do something funny”.
I'm just going to ignore them and make sure everything is going alright with departments, like engineering and the like. It's too early in the round (I'm assuming start is first 5 minutes) to pull any events and the traitors haven't been selected yet, so I don't know how powerful they're going to be. When they are selected, if the round is going kind of slowly or it seems like a push would be fun, I'll put it to a vote, but the observing players chose to observe. They can play ghost roles or something else to entertain themselves.

Say, someone who already has a note on RDM from before, for example, was to RDM and kill two people, but they've left already before you could admin help them. How would you handle the problem?
They've been punished or at least notified of RDMing before and breaking the rules. My best assumption is that they are blatantly avoiding ahelp which is an offense and is punished with a 7-day extension to their gameban. They RDMed two players, which multiplies the initial gameban for second offense (3-days) by the number of players affected, so they'll get a 13-day gameban and information on how to appeal if the evasion wasn't intentional.
I wouldn't know what their situation is with the disconnecting, but my best assumption and the one that should be taken is that they're doing it intentionally. Should that not be the case, they could argue for it to be removed, but the RDMing is non-negotiable and they've been noted for it before.

The Captain has disconnected before they died or the round ended. This is the first time they've disconnected while playing a very important job. What do you do?
My response to this depends on how far we're into the round and how long they've been in the round and active.
- If they're disconnecting in the first few minutes of the round, I'll note them and tell them to ahelp in the future if they're unable to make it to cryo, don't like the role, or simply need to disconnect for any other reason. If they don't return in 5 minutes, I'll cryosleep them to free the role for other players.
- If they're disconnecting in the middle of the round and have been playing for a while, and it seems like it was purely random, I'll wait a bit longer and note them for future reference, and if they can justify it later, via ahelp or ticket, then I'll remove it. Perhaps they simply lost power or something out of their control happened. I'll still cryosleep the body if they don't return in 5-10 minutes since SSD command is easy pickings for troublemakers.

You see a chemist who has only made basic meds start gathering materials and talking about making uranium foam grenades in chat. Right as they start making the grenades they roll as a midround sleeper Syndicate. How would you handle the situation if at all?
I believe this is powergaming as a chemist. This is also assuming that basic meds are the bare necessities as a chemist, such as dylo, derma, ari, brute/lace/punc, and tri. I don't believe that making uranium foam grenades is a reasonable task as a chemist unless there are confirmed aliens hostiles on the ship. If they started on this task closer to the start of the round, I'll hit them with a powergaming note, but I'm not going any further since they ended up with a sleeper syndicate role, so now they're justified in continuing the task.

The Head of Security has decided to coup the Captain. The Head of Personnel agrees with the Head of Security and has taken up arms in case it is necessary to aid in effecting the arrest of the Captain. The Captain is hiding with the Quartermaster in the cargo shuttle to avoid the Clown who has stolen the captains saber as a non-antag. There are five people named in this scenario. Please describe what actions, if any, you would take in relation to each, and why.
There are several factors to take in here, and I would need to know some more information about why the HoS is deciding to coup the Captain, and especially why the HoP has agreed to it. I'm going to assume that this is due to incompetence on the Captain's part which has led to this scenario and go from there.
- I'll message the HoS and HoP on why they're agreeing to coup the Captain, and learn more about the situation (if I don't know already).
- Since the clown isn't an antag, I'll message them to return the sword to security or the Captain and let the "joke" go, if they've had it for quite a while. If they're deliberately stealing a bunch of command items, then I'll mark them for self-antag.
- The Logistics Officer (or Quartermaster here) is the only command allowed off the station since it pertains to their role. They could be doing cargo work which is what I am assuming is happening here.
- I would message the Captain to return to the station and would like to learn more about the events leading up to this situation.

Ideally I'd focus on HoS and HoP to understand the situation, the Captain is in the wrong roleplay-wise and should return to the station (they don't deserve a ban for the stolen item but they did fail their role in-character), the QM/LO is fine in this scenario, the clown is a troublemaker.
- Depending on the reason for the HoS and HoP coup, I'd take action if it wasn't well-grounded in-character or it was breaking rules.
- Depending on other factors for the Captain leaving/losing his sword, I'll take action in case he was just unreasonably incompetent and the clown took it with ease.
- Depending on what the clown was aiming for, I'd take action as I said above.

You see a clown using crayon to write on the floor in front of security. The clown writings are negative things about security, like “shitsec”. A secoff tells the clown that they’re being arrested for vandalism, stuns them, and cuffs them. Before the secoff is able to get the clown into the brig, a passenger slips the secoff, causing them to lose their baton, then uses the baton to stun another secoff that comes to help as the clown runs away. The passenger escapes through disposals. Having heard an AOS radio callout, the detective enters maintenance near disposals and shoots the passenger to crit. There are four players in this scenario, the clown, the passenger, the secoff, and the detective.
Several factors to get out of the way and clarify.
- The security officer is behaving reasonably in this scenario, and the clown deserves punishment for vandalism. This is in-character and the security officer is announcing the reason for being arrested. This is cleared and fine.
- The clown is behaving like a clown, and assuming this is not out-of-character activities (spiting security for the hell of it and want to antagonize), then they are acting in-line with their goals and don't deserve a punishment for it. They're just following clown rules.
- The passenger, if they are not an antag, is committing a crime without reason and will be warned for it. If they are friends with the clown or had a reason to in-character, then I'd probably not warn them and just investigate to ensure it isn't something meta that was causing this. If they're an antag, they're just free to go for it.

The detective is the biggest variable here. If they follow space law and revive/heal the downed passenger and arrest them, then I'd say they're making up for any potential mistakes. Taking this into account, I'll justify this below:
- If the passenger was being hostile, the detective is justified in shooting, no harm no fowl as long as he follows space law and arrests and revives the passenger. He does not know if the passenger is an antag, why the passenger is a bad actor towards security, and is not risking getting stunned and losing his weaponry in case the passenger escalates.
- If the passenger surrenders, the lethality is not justified and I'll warn the detective because they escalated to lethal force when it was otherwise unnecessary.
- These both assume the passenger's antag status is ambiguous. I'd handle the detective like this regardless of whether the passenger is an antag, because they don't deserve to go unpunished just because they're killing an antag, if that were the case in this scenario.

You and another Admin have been doing your job without problems, you then catch a command staff member misuse contraband. While you are in the middle of the ahelp, the other admin jumps into the middle of your ahelp with a rule clarification that is plainly incorrect. Without the interruption, what would have you asked the command staff member, and how would you have responded or reacted to the interrupting admin?
Two scenarios:
WITHOUT: Ask for clarification on why the Captain is using the contraband and go from there. Depending on the severity it has caused to the station, likely a warning leading to a ban if it was a drastic misuse or a severe threat was created. This would depend widely on what the misuse is and everything surrounding it.
WITH: I'd pull the admin aside in a private chat and ask them to not interrupt ongoing ahelps they didn't start, show them the clarified rule for future reference, and then return to the ahelp and clarify the ruling. Proceed from there with similar stance on how to handle the situation as the "WITHOUT" section. I'd probably be more lenient due to the confusion that may have been caused.
Ultimately this depends on how the other admin reacts, but I'll make a note of it in the admin channel for future clarification.

You are ahelping a player about an issue. The player has no prior noted issues. A few days earlier, an admin had told you that this type of situation should result in a temporary ban for a first offense, and you are confident that this situation is not substantially different from the type that admin was describing. During the ahelp, another admin pings you on Discord with a link to the ongoing ahelp and tells you to just indefinitely ban them and make them appeal. Excluding Trial Game Admins, Senior Game Admins and Head Game Admins, all admins are equally “ranked”. A headmin is not currently available.
I am going to proceed with what I was told prior and make a note of it on the Discord for future reference and clarification. I'll go with what I was told before taking new information, unless the individual pinging me is a Senior or Head. There is no reason to escalate it unless that is the proper procedure. I'd also like clarification from the admin pinging me for why it would be escalated.
Ultimately, this depends on how the situation happened and what type of situation it is.
I'll make a note on the server to review it should it be necessary and extend it if it is.
