Popular Post Rouge2t7 Posted November 18 Popular Post Posted November 18 Check What's your Space Station 14 Username: Rouge2t7 What's your Discord Username: Rouge2t7 How long have you been playing Space Station 14?: 7 Months (OPTIONAL) How long have you been playing Space Station 13?: 1-2 years What's your playtime amount on the Goob Station Server: 82 hours How old are you: 28 Have you ever been banned from the Goob Station Server: No Have you played on any other SS13 or SS14 servers? If so, name them, and tell us your playtime on the server(s): Wizden: 1155 hours Frontier Station: 46 hours RMC: 18 hours ------------------------------------------ Time How many hours can you admin per week: 3-5 hours each day I'm likely free and/or playing ss14 On what days can you get on to Admin: Most afternoons or nights for me after 5pm What timezone are you in: GMT + 1 ------------------------------------------ General Questions Why do you want to become a Game Admin? Go into detail about it and tell us a lot about it: I've always wanted to try being an admin and Goob seems to have the most reasonable system and expectations compared to most other servers. On top of just generally enjoying seeing the direction that Goob is moving towards. I'd like to be part of that progress. I've equally always found far more enjoyment while helping players opposed to just playing the game. Do you have any prior admin or staff experience on another SS13/SS14 server? If so, tell us about your experiences during that time, and if possible, give us proof of this: No What role do you think Game Admins serve, in detail: Admins serve to ensure the rules are followed, the immersion is kept real and mostly importantly, exist to make sure each players comfort, questions or grievances are met. What are you primarily interested in doing as an admin?: I am specifically interested in handling rule breakers and helping players. What are you least interested in doing as an admin?: I generally enjoy the admin experience but I assume there will be some difficult cases or discussions that could happen. Banning a regular player who's just had a bad day comes to mind. What makes you a great addition to staff?: Despite my mald after games, I am actually a pretty patient person. I've 7 years of professional admin and moderation experience on multiple different platforms and projects. I don't like to be super reactionary if there's no need to. I don't believe admin's exist just to ban players, nor should they. I've been taught context is key and I believe that applies heavily on ss14 in a lot of cases. What do you think is the current roleplay status of the LRP server, what do you think can be done to improve it: LRP currently is very chaotic, but that's part of the reason I enjoy it. I personally wish there was more people willing to play command that are also competent but that likely will improve with time. (OPTIONAL) What do you think is the current roleplay status of the MRP server, what do you think can be done to improve it: I've played very little of MRP, but in terms of RP it is definitely a step up from the typical LRP gameplay. Other than banning problematic players, what admin actions do you believe have the biggest positive impact?: Admins being very involved in the community, willing to take part in and play has had a positive impact for me. Admins being in-touch with their community is always a good time. Goob also knows how to take a joke, that's generally different from most other servers. Have you ever had a negative experience with a game admin (even on another SS13/14 server)? If so what, if anything, would you do differently?: Multiple. Usually revolves around a double standard of treatment however. Goob is definitely very receptive to criticism and is honestly pretty lenient comparatively to other servers. Have you ever had a good experience with a game admin? If so, what was it?: Yes! I've talked to and discussed game rules and aims with admins and generally will have gotten a very reasonable and realistic response. In your opinion, what is the most important quality in an admin?: The ability to know when to act and when to leave things alone. Also to be very knowledgeable about the game and able to provide meaningful input to people asking questions. ------------------------------------------ Scenarios Questions (You should put more than just one or two sentences.) It is the start of the round. There are 60 players on the server. The game mode is traitors, traitors have not been selected yet. There are three players who decided to observe the round instead of join it orbiting you. Two of them are encouraging you to “do something funny”. I am admittedly a bit of an admeme hater, so I'd not do anything. I'd tell them to leave me alone as I'm currently trying to admin a server and if I have to, I will explain that "doing something funny" doesn't always have a positive impact on the round, nor is it fair for players who are lucky to roll traitor. The game is for everyone, not just admins. Say, someone who already has a note on RDM from before, for example, was to RDM and kill two people, but they've left already before you could admin help them. How would you handle the problem? As it is their second time of RDM(3 day ban), it's within 6 months, and since it seems like a case of evading Ahelp. The ban would be extended up to at least 7 days, and worst case it'd be indefinite. I'd likely have to consult with the admin team or review the round to understand this player better and if they're willing to change. The Captain has disconnected before they died or the round ended. This is the first time they've disconnected while playing a very important job. What do you do? I'd leave a note on their account mentioning it and remind them to Ahelp in the future if they must leave in a hurry. They can then go to discord or the forums to further explain the situation if there's a legitimate reason they had to leave or disconnected. You see a chemist who has only made basic meds start gathering materials and talking about making uranium foam grenades in chat. Right as they start making the grenades they roll as a midround sleeper Syndicate. How would you handle the situation if at all? I would consider this powergaming and possibly even griefing(role abandonment). I would remind them that in the future this is not allowed as they had no IC reason to be creating uranium foam, on top of leaving a note in admin remarks. The Head of Security has decided to coup the Captain. The Head of Personnel agrees with the Head of Security and has taken up arms in case it is necessary to aid in effecting the arrest of the Captain. The Captain is hiding with the Quartermaster in the cargo shuttle to avoid the Clown who has stolen the captains saber as a non-antag. There are five people named in this scenario. Please describe what actions, if any, you would take in relation to each, and why. I believe a lot of this would fall under competence and self-antag in the clowns case. If HOS and HOP have decided to coup, they should Ahelp first to explain what the Captain has done to make them consider this, I would then ask Captain why this situation has happened and also why they have not Ahelped. Depending on the responses and general round quality due to this I would apply the appropriate admin remarks and rolebans if necessary and even consult with the admin team if the quality of the round isn't entirely destroyed or if maybe a lighter sentence need be applied depending on the situation. You see a clown using crayon to write on the floor in front of security. The clown writings are negative things about security, like “shitsec”. A secoff tells the clown that they’re being arrested for vandalism, stuns them, and cuffs them. Before the secoff is able to get the clown into the brig, a passenger slips the secoff, causing them to lose their baton, then uses the baton to stun another secoff that comes to help as the clown runs away. The passenger escapes through disposals. Having heard an AOS radio callout, the detective enters maintenance near disposals and shoots the passenger to crit. There are four players in this scenario, the clown, the passenger, the secoff, and the detective. Firstly I consider the clowns nonsense to be generally harmless, but I also think sec is fine to possibly consider it vandalism. Stuff like seems like it's all within reasonable IC reactions, however if the passenger is not an antag and decided to slip sec and keeps the baton on their escape. Then the escalation of the det is fine, as there's no reason for sec to assume this person isn't dangerous when armed with a stun baton. However if the passenger is unarmed it's possible that this may be an over escalation of the detective or sec- depends on who told them to AOS. You and another Admin have been doing your job without problems, you then catch a command staff member misuse contraband. While you are in the middle of the ahelp, the other admin jumps into the middle of your ahelp with a rule clarification that is plainly incorrect. Without the interruption, what would have you asked the command staff member, and how would you have responded or reacted to the interrupting admin? Without the interruption, I would message the player in question and inquire as to why they are misusing contraband and warn them to not do it in the future, leaving an admin remark assuming they had not done this previously and haven't done some seriously bad thing a command member should never do in general. With the interruption, I'd notify my fellow admin in a private channel, that I believe the rule clarification they shared is wrong, using the documents to help and asking them to reclarify to minimise any miscommunication or conflict. You are ahelping a player about an issue. The player has no prior noted issues. A few days earlier, an admin had told you that this type of situation should result in a temporary ban for a first offense, and you are confident that this situation is not substantially different from the type that admin was describing. During the ahelp, another admin pings you on Discord with a link to the ongoing ahelp and tells you to just indefinitely ban them and make them appeal. Excluding Trial Game Admins, Senior Game Admins and Head Game Admins, all admins are equally “ranked”. A headmin is not currently available. I would tell them that I'd prefer to follow what I've been informed to do and if they believe that this should be an indefinite ban then they can escalate it when a higher ranking admin becomes available. I don't believe I have any reason to increase the ban to indefinite if I've seen no prior noted issues. ------------------------------------------ End Anything else we should know about or have questions about: CodyPencil, Piras314, CerberusWolfie and 2 others 1 4
