Space Station 14 Username: GamesSweatShop Banning Admin's SS14 Username: Icepick Are you banned from the Server or a Job/Department: Job The reason you were banned: Massive overescelation as shielded passenger against revs, murderboned people who were holding weapons, unshielded, or wanted. Everything that lead to your ban, give a detailed explanation. Relevant info only and don't leave anything important out: Join goob, and watch as revs kill the HoS in front of me, I drag his corpse to sec to save him but a rev gets in. Drag HoS to the armory and pretend to be sympathetic to the rev. Kill the rev who went into the armory and saved the HoS (rev later was later revived by me for shielding). Become mindshielded and obtain a weapon of war. Attempt to secure cargo in order to get mindshields to peacefully resolve the revolution. Cargo has fallen and all spaceships are sabotaged. I take the three mindshields I managed to secure and shield people. Notice two nonshielded in armory. Kill them, they are in the armory and have guns during an active revolution. Kill several other people I see attacking heads/sec. Kill people charging me with wielded spears and weapons some of which attacked me. More sec are dying, only remaining Heads are Head of Security and NTR. At this point we are roughly at 1917 Russia, armed people are running all over the station killing left and right, so I kill people who are aggressive with weapons / smashing in sec windows, some of whom turned out to be non revs. I also Murdered people running around in stolen security uniforms without mindshields. Why you should be unbanned: Let me ask you a simple question. As a police officer during a revolution out for your blood; what are you doing in this situation: Figure 1: If you ever played revs as security, you know how evil this guy is. A dystopian cooperate police is going to shoot him without a second though. Now, to justify my kills. - If you are a non mindhsielded in armory during revs, and the Ward had told you to get out multiple times, then you reach for a gun: I'm going to put you down - This is self-explanatory, I do not think I need to explain why it is a bad idea to let them live. - If you are running around with weapons while almost all of sec and command are dead: I'm going to put you down. - I witnessed in the current round multiple heads of staff and security being killed by such individuals and groups, you shouldn't be running around with weapons during revs. - If you're wearing stolen security uniforms, armor, and weaponry during revs, you clearly killed a security or failed to stop a group from killing them and then chose to loot them: I'm going to put you down. - Why should I keep this person alive, they are wearing the skin of my dead comrade. - I did not kill anyone for the crime of being unmindshielded, though doing such would have been justifiable because all means of securing mindshields were sabotaged and the station had gone to complete shit. - Killed two tiders who were smashing sec windows with prisoners inside, they had secbelts, disablers, and other weapons on them. - Why would you do this and expect any other reaction from me? - Killed a tider running directly at me with a wielded spear. - See Figure 1, for additional resources, look up "suicide by cop" - Killed maniacs on evac who were slashing people to death. - No other option, there were a total of three secoffs alive and none of us had nonlethals at this point. Also to help those who are having technical issues be it that they're literally stuck somehow because of a bug or otherwise. Most people seem pretty open to the roleplay aspect, however there have been a few instances of people reacting in a way that made it feel as though they found it wierd. ------------------------------------------ The more questions questions. Say, someone who already has a note on RDM from before, for example, was to RDM and kill two people, but they've left already before you could admin help them. How would you handle the problem? I would let the other admins know about it and give the appropriate punishment, also warning the recipient about it so they at least know why. Captain seems to have disconnected before they died or the round ended. This is the first time they've disconnected while playing a very important job. What would you do about them? Depending on if there's something major going on or not, I'd let the next highest command officer know to take over until either the original captain comes back or the round ends. I don't know every tool an admin has at their disposition so this is the only thing I can really think about aside from putting someone else in the captain's body if that were even possible at all. You see a passenger player mess around too much and start interfering with a Security Officer's arrest by uncuffing the Officer's prisoner, as the passenger runs, the Officer pulls out their gun and shoots the passenger almost to death. What's wrong here and how would you handle the situation as an Admin? While it's true that what the passenger was doing went against the law, the Officer should've used a non-lethal due to it being more of an annoyance than an extremely harmful act. Though depending on who's cuffed and why it could be a huge problem. Making note of whom it was, dealing with the current prisoner and then setting the passenger's status to arrest. Pretty sure that's a short sentence between 2 and 5 minutes according to the book of law. I'd explain to the officer why what they did was wrong and tell them ways to deal with it next time it happens. Letting them off with a warning basically. If I catch them doing it again despite already being warned I'd talk to the other admins about it to figure out what kind of punishment is due since I don't know what it would be yet as I don't know how admins actually operate on here. You see a chemist who has only made basic meds start gathering materials and talking about making uranium foam grenades in chat. Right as they start making the grenades they roll as a midround sleeper syndie. How would you handle the situation if at all? Since I can't seem to find something in the rules that goes against that specific situation, I'd refer to my fellow admins then handle the situation based on what I'm told as a reference. I'd definitely see it as suspicious and check the logs for anything that could tell me if they were planning for that or not as well if it's something I can do. You see a clown using crayon to write on the floor in front of security. The clown writings are negative things about security, like “shitsec”. A secoff tells the clown that they’re being arrested for vandalism, stuns them, and cuffs them. Before the secoff is able to get the clown into the brig, a passenger slips the secoff, causing them to lose their baton, then uses the baton to stun another secoff that comes to help as the clown runs away. The passenger escapes through disposals. Having heard an AOS radio callout, the detective enters maintenance near disposals and shoots the passenger to crit. There are four players in this scenario, the clown, the passenger, the secoff, and the detective. First off, that passenger is self-antagging and therefore should not have done any of that. Vandalism of the caliber that the Clown did is acceptable though sec has a right to put them in jail for 2 minutes according to space law. Evading arrest is also not against game rules but definitely breaking space law which is for sec to deal with. Using lethals against an unarmed and mostly harmless non-antag is strictly against the rules I'm pretty sure. You and another Admin have been doing your job without problems, you then catch a command staff member misuse contraband. While you are in the middle of the ahelp, the other admin jumps into the middle of your ahelp with a rule clarification that is plainly incorrect. Without the interruption, what would have you asked the command staff member, and how would you have responded or reacted to the interrupting admin? Kindly remind the captain about rule 14 of the IC / RP section. (Ex: Hi!! Just to let you know you might want to read (insert rule name/number here) again. You're not supposed to do that." If they continue or show that they don't care I will punish them accordingly. I prefer to give the benefit of the doubt first as I know everyone isn't equipped with a brain capable of memorizing so much. People can also completely forget things sometimes (happens to me). As for the other admin: I would let them know that I'm already handling the situation, but that what they said wasn't exactly what is written in the rules, clarifying by stating the actual rule word for word or as much as I could summarize. ------------------------------------------ End Anything else we should know about or have questions about: I have a strong sense of justice and usually high empathy. My approach tends to be somewhat of a people-pleasing attitude but only in a way that would avoid extreme stress in the recipient (I know what anxiety's like), like guiding a child but with more tact basically. Because stress avoidant reactions are a thing. People can get panic attacks from stuff like that (I know it from personal experience). I use my innate understanding of social psychology when dealing with these situations because I don't want to ruin one side's experience when all they might've needed was a reminder. Everyone is human, including myself and whomever gets caught. It's just not right to assume that people will be able to 100% memorize the rules when there's so much text to read, plus the human brain isn't meant for that. So simply telling them "hey, think you forgot about (x rule) there. Please don't do that." and only actually punishing them if they're obviously knowingly breaking the rules or showing a lack of care is a lot better, humane and professional in my opinion. I'll also consistently check the rules whenever I see something I'm PRETTY sure goes against them to be absolutely certain.

I had made a similar joke that I have gone unpunished for previously. which now somehow got me punished with an appeal-ban. Why you should be unbanned: I don't intend to break more rules, I had done it on accident, then following that lead to an appeal-ban from an original 3 day ban. Of course my original 3 day ban was justified, I over-escalated and ill admit it, but an appeal-ban for a joke is just actually unfair, I've said it before going unpunished because its quite obviously a joke, In my ahelp I apologize if it seems like I was serious and or in anger, With my long notes list I can see how it would appear that I am doing this on purpose, but I really dont intend to be a shitter/raider, I literally just play for fun after work, Some of my stuff may be rude/dick moves, but I do actually apologize to any admins I have offended by calling badmins, I dont mean that, nor do I "do this on purpose" Its fully fine if my ban doesn't get replaced, or removed, I just generally wanna say sorry rn to anybody, and uhh yeah, goodmin :3 -proof for me to appeal again before two weeks.

Killing someone over a plasteel table, is pretty much over-Escalation. The chef does not need to kill the person rather ask the security to handle the situation, if it's in lowpop your chances of getting it back is low tbh. Either way it's better to avoid conflicts, ask engineering for a replacement.

I've been banned for saying "make me goon" and "ok my knee ga." I understand how saying these things is out of pocket and might dissuade new players from playing in your server and ultimately hurting you.
