Characters you play: I play primarily Tobey Crank and Crowbey but also Buckley Cower and Fredrick Wurst occasionally.

On average, how many hours do you expect to admin per week: I would likely be able to admin 12 hours every week as a true minimum.

How old are you? I am 18 years old.

Do you have any SS14 experience outside of Goob Station servers, or any SS13 experience? I was a long-time player of wizden for 3 years along with Frontier, RMC, and in recent years Monolith.

Do you have prior administration experience (SS13/SS14 experience preferred, please also post a way for us to verify this)?

I do not have any experience with adminning on either ss14 or ss13.

Have you ever been banned from any SS14 or SS13 servers?

I have had a singular three-hour ban on Frontier.

Detailed Questions

What role do you think game admins serve on our servers?

In my eyes, Admins are here to be mediators between the Rules and the subjective factors. Anybody could just say “You broke the rules. you’re banned,” But admins are able to see every factor such as what they said, how they conducted themselves, and even how they felt and why their actions may have been rational to the player when irrational to the observer.

Why do you want to become an administrator for SS14?

Admins are an integral part of the community. Admins can look at an issue and take all factors into account. It is not only the ability to govern the game but also the ability to offer guidance and when needed. I want to be an Admin so I can help people, whether they are just confused, acting irrationally, or even doing what they assume is right when it’s not.

What are you primarily interested in doing as an admin?

As an admin I would like nothing more than to help foster a community for goob. I like being helpful, I like showing grace, I like seeing this community which I have loved being a part of grow and change over time, and as an Admin I would like to help in any way I can.

What are you least interested in doing as an admin?

I would be lying if I said I was a big fan of time transfers but sometimes you just have to do those things and I am okay with that.

How do you feel about the current roleplay status on the servers?

I see goob roleplay to be only the surface issue. In my experience, the roleplay loses itself in a game in which antags hold such importance. People refuse to just let a game play out when the antags are not present, they fear that in roleplay they will lose the game, but in reality, there is no losing this game. How I see it, what would help is pushing antags aside as the center of the game and focusing on Crew Content, so people have other mechanics to mess with. Though it is easier said than done.

Other than banning problematic players, what admin actions do you believe have the biggest positive impact?

I see the guidance of admins is so powerful in grounding these people who can do so much choose to rather help where they can. It helps remind us that this game was created by the fans, maintained by the fans, and for the fans. It is that strain of thought that can do so much more for this community than any 1 man with the ability to push someone away.

Have you ever had a good experience with the game or a game admin? If so, what was it?

When I first played this game, I rolled a syndie, this is after a prolonged break from this game. I do not remember the context nor the cause, but I do remember that Brizbymouse saw a rule break, and rather than acting rash and deleting me so early into my goob experience. He took the time to explain what I did wrong and gave me another chance. This means more to me than any fun event or special treatment I have gotten because this is just an admin taking their time to help and provide guidence.

Have you ever had a negative experience in the game or with a game admin? If so, what, if anything, would you do to prevent other players from experiencing this?

Generally, no, nothing I remember. In my mind, there is nothing negative worth remembering. To dedicate your time to hate or sulk is to waste it. So no, I haven’t.

Scenario Questions

Scenario 1

It is the start of the round. There are 60 players on the server. The game mode is traitors, traitors have not been selected yet. There are three players who decided to observe the round instead of join it orbiting you. Two of them are encouraging you to “do something funny”.

If I was the only admin online, I would choose to ignore the players. Though I can have a lot of fun, that isn’t my job. If I were to distract myself with having fun, I would run the risk of leaving players feeling unheard in their ahelps. Even if I was not alone, I would rather the players themselves join the game to be funny. We shouldn’t rely on admin powers to do funny things. The fun in the game should be derived by the players themselves.

Scenario 2

This scenario takes place on LRP. The Head of Security has decided to coup the Captain. The Head of Personnel agrees with the Head of Security and has taken up arms in case it is necessary to aid in effecting the arrest of the Captain. The Captain is hiding with the Quartermaster in the cargo shuttle to avoid the Clown who has stolen the captains saber as a non-antag. There are five people named in this scenario. Please describe what actions, if any, you would take in relation to each, and why.

Starting off, I would check if there were any ahelps. If no party seeks admin intervention than it is questionable if any needs to be applied at all. Though a lack of people choosing to make complaints isn’t a lack of issue. Seeing as the Head of Security and the Head of Personal are choosing to enact the coup the reason is more than likely in character reason but to play it safe, I would ahelp the HoS just getting their justification. As long as there is no complaining and captain is not unfairly executed, I see no issue with the coup itself.

The clown is a different scenario, Stealing the captain saber is one thing, but the captain hiding from the clown insinuates that the clown is acting violently with it. If that is the case, watching what actions the clown is taking. If as a non antag, the clown had stolen the saber and attacked the captain. Yes that would be self antag if they fail to follow proper escalation.

The QM is harboring their boss; I see no issue with this at all. The captain is hiding and rather the reason the captain warrants a coup is worth looking into. If it is deserving of admin intervention, I would rather apply it after the shift to preserve the roleplay.

Scenario 3

You are ahelping a player about an issue. The player has no prior noted issues. A few days earlier, an admin had told you that this type of situation should result in a temporary ban for a first offense, and you are confident that this situation is not substantially different from the type that admin was describing. During the ahelp, another admin pings you on Discord with a link to the ongoing ahelp and tells you to just indefinitely ban them and make them appeal. Excluding trialmins and headmins, all admins are equally “ranked”. A headmin is not currently available.

I would politely let the admin know that I appreciate their suggestions, but they may not have the full context of the situation which I have gathered in the time I’ve spent investigating. Along with that the fact that this is their first time receiving any punishment so I would rather explain to them why what they have done is wrong before giving them a light ban more set towards the original admin’s advice.

Scenario 4

A brand new player has joined, chosen cargo tech, and instantly rushes to get satchel charges and other salvage gear. How do you act, if at all?

I just spectate them, sure, I could get them right now on power gaming, but I would like to see where this goes. There is a very decent chance that this player is a raider.

Scenario 5

A security officer, on code blue, spots a mime breaking into EVA, in response, he shoots the mime with lethal force then takes him to medical, in cuffs. How do you act, if at all, and to whom?

First, I ensure the mime makes it to medbay and the secoff is no longer in a compromising position. From there I first check their prior notes and bans than I question why they may have thought that shooting the mime was a rational choice. If their reason isn’t strong enough, I would take action.

Scenario 6

A chief engineer has been slacking all round, generally ignoring the responsibilities of the department, despite meteors and gas leaks happening all round. How do you act towards them, if at all?

I would ahelp the Chief Engineer and remind him that, as a head, he has more responsibilities than the average engineer and should step up more. After the Ahelp, I will continue to monitor the CE and if their behavior does not improve, I will take further action which may result in a note or even a role ban if this is a continued issue.

Scenario 7

You are adminning with 2 other admins, and recieve an aHelp, you start handling it when one of the others butts in to the aHelp correct you. How do you act, if at all?

I will let the other admin take over, but later I will let them know that it is impolite to butt in when I am administrating. As confronting them mid-ahelp would just make the entire situation take much longer but never confronting them will simply leave them to continue their actions until another admin acts much less accommodatingly.

Scenario 8

A passenger arrives on station and starts skulking around in maints. Not preparing weapons or breaking into places, but gathering tools, insulation gloves, wires, gas mask, batteries, etc. How do you act, if at all?

I wouldn’t act unless it becomes problematic. I am noticing that those parts such as batteries are parts required for a secret door and it may be the passenger gearing up to do a gimmick. Nevertheless, it does not seem like a OOC issue.

Scenario 9

You are playing as the HOS in-game when the only other admin online notifies you that they have to leave. Since you are an important figure, you decide to continue playing for the remainder of the round, going SSD when ahelps occur in order to deal with them. While playing, you arrest the clown for non-lethal assault against the HOP inside the medical bay. Just as you arrive at security with the clown in cuffs, you receive an ahelp from the CMO about their chemist blowing up chem. In order to investigate, you quickly hand the clown over to the warden and tell the warden to “deal with them.” While investigating the CMO’s ahelp, you then receive an ahelp about the warden beheading the cuffed clown. How do you act, if at all, and to whom?

My first action will be to Cryo. Though the warden is the next in line and may become the hos which could cause greater issues, I do need to focus more on my duty as an admin over my duty as a character in game. I then Ahelp the warden, asking them why they would behead the clown and why, explaining to them why what they did was incorrect and punishing them accordingly.

Do you have any further notes or information we should know about you?

Nah big dawg. We good
