Events leading to the ban
One-Who-Dreams came up to me in cargo and asked me “(Character name here) What is yaoi”. And since I tend to be really silly with my characters and said character is an IPC that used to be a BORG and therefore has some pretty janky laws I obeyed and looked up the first part of the wikipedia page on it and basically spewed it out as a machine would do. They then asked me to clarify so in all my perfectly silly wisdom I said the exact same thing again. That was when I got banned.
Reason the ban should be removed
Honestly, it really did look like what a raider would do what with the huge paragraph and all. But I was literally in-character roleplaying. The one who plays one-who-dreams can testify that’s literally what happened, and it can definitely be found in the chat logs as well for that round.
I think there’s something to be learned for all parties involved, huge one being not to copy and paste the first section of a wikipedia page in its entireity twice in a row. The second that it’s important to inspect a situation further before enacting a ban sometimes.
People do stupid things in-character too… But it was a very stupid thing in real life as well. The only thing I regret is not making sure to let the admins know I was doing that in advance, if that’s ever allowed in the future I will definitely do that.
Almost forgot to specify: Yes I proof-read the page before copy-pasting it, it’s nothing inherently NSFW unless you think that being homosexual is NSFW which would be absolutely wack. The only word that would be potentially considered as such is actually just the professional term for attraction between the same genders/sex because some people don’t look up what those words mean sometimes and just assume it’s something bad.
