Ban reason: Unreasonable incompetence in command / 1st offence 7d rb / "Chased a ling inside maints as CMO, and killed using syndicate gear (C20," (apealee sidenote, cR20) "bloodred, thermal googles) they had gathered from a traitor 10 minutes before, and had neither given to security or just , didn't wear or use to validhunt"
Ban issue: What I was banned/noted for is not against the rules.
Events leading to the ban
There was near no security presence, i do not recall seeing security nearly at all during that round. I had personally cryo’d brigmed and a security officer who i personally saved from rotting near dorms (way far from med) but was ssd. It was already red and chaotic by this point, botany grew gatfruits and left the resulting pythons on the table infront of med, which i took a pair and used them to defend myself from the traitor who attacked me later, along with pax from my syringe gun. I assumed originally that it was a nukie, so i rushed to fullstrip them not knowing they wouldn’t acidify, having stripped them, i kept the gear seeing as there was like no security and i was running low on pax. This may be a different round, but i remember my chem/south of med maints door being intruded upon by multiple antags that shift. I kept working in chem making meds (and not a gibmix (!)), when a ling ran through my chem through med front (which was broken at this point iirc), followed by a lollygag of validhunters, one of which follows the ling into maints. I even managed to get out a “can we not” or something along the lines, before going in to help with dealing with the ling, because if i didn’t, the person would surely die. I then manage to pax (!!) the ling, and then proceed to swiftly execute them with my Cr20. I hand the ling off to someone, and go start cloning hollowed people, who i spotted right outside my chem (!!!) one of which was CE, who would otherwise be round removed. I then get the ahelp, and after a bit of delay, get notified i am rolebanned for incompetence in command and warned for validhunting. (!!!)
Reason the ban should be removed
I was in med (mostly chem) 99% of the shift, only really leaving in the brief periods there was nothing to do, i was too busy and the situation too hectic for me to care about proper contraband disposal at this point, i believe my use of contra was justified given it was 1. Armor so i wouldnt die in 2 seconds (yummy low ttk) and 2. a weapon to defend myself and 3. I did not have to do any extra work to attain these two, since they practically delivered themselves to me, allowing me to focus on med
! - I did not make a gibmix, it was red, there were confirmed lings/ontags/whatever, i could have very much made gibmix and went to validhunt/“Just in case”, i did not, i was focused on work in med.
!! - The thermals didn’t matter since i never used them and because of the pax the armor didnt matter since i never got attacked
!!! - There were people hollowed right outside of chem, the validhunter would’ve met the same fate had i not went in to help them and made it a fair fight, the ling had chem access and could clearly come in and ambushed me at any time, if i didn’t kill them, they would keep creating Way more work for me and could potentially even kill me. Security clearly could not deal with this.
!!! - In the ahelp itself, when i notified moony that i was infact very busy with med work at that moment, they saw that i was brainswapping people into clones and admitted that it was a “good excuse” (paraphrasing) to not care all that much about proper contra handling, i feel as though this ban was placed due to the letter of the rules not the spirit of the rules, and don’t believe it was worth a 7d RB.
It was mostly an impulsive action, i did not really have prior intent to validhunt or otherwise, i just jumped to defend crew from a ling.
Sidenotes:
A nukie suit and a sec vest have Very similar armor values, its not THAT strong in the grand scheme of things.
I should not be punished for focusing on my job.
