Ban reason: As HoP got "bored" and handed out access to sci for secoffs whow asted points on sec reasearch resulting in ahelps following. There was no emergency or crisis to warrant access for sec.
Ban issue: I did what I was banned/noted for, but the ban is unreasonably harsh.
Events leading to the ban
I am the Head of Personnel and am sitting at my desk. Harry Mullen, the Detective, asks for science access for a “Sci joint mission for portable rechargers”. I say why not and grant them science access. Another officer right behind them asks for the same, so I comply.
Reason the ban should be removed
I assumed that, because security was to the point of asking me for science access to do research, science was either incompetent or unwilling to do the research requested, so I granted the access for the officers to do research on their own. The fact that afterwards the access was used to powergame using ALL of science’s points for security gear is not my fault and the officers in question should be the ones receiving a punishment.
This is like punishing the Warden for distributing guns to an officer because that officer proceeded to go kill twelve people. It’s not my fault that the access was used to powergame. I made the reasonable assumption that security officers asking for science access were competent enough to do research and would not abuse the access, as they were mindshielded, trusted station personnel. The Research Director at this point was SSD in the bridge and thus could not have given authorization.
I did what I was noted for, but this is so minor an issue that I don’t think it constitutes a permanent warning. There are command mains out there who have done much more worse and incompetent shit than this who are consistently performing at a level that should not be expected of command personnel. I believe that HoP exists primarily to allow more leeway in what each crew member can do in a round to make the round more interesting, and the fact that this leeway was abused is not my fault and I should not be being punished for this.
