Detailed Questions

What role do you think game admins serve on our servers?

Admins are here most importantly to ensure gameplay on Goob Station is enjoyable and fun for all players. They are also here to enforce any and all server rules, using their best judgement to take fair action against anyone who breaks the rules.

Why do you want to become an administrator for SS14?

My main motivator in becoming an administrator is to give back to the community, a lot of goobers have helped me out on many occasions, and I believe staff could use the additional help. Adding onto that, I have been greatly inspired by Boggle.

What are you primarily interested in doing as an admin?

I am primarily interested in enforcing server rules, redeeming tokens, and helping resolve any and all conflict between players. I am also very much interested in introducing new players to the server, and obviously interacting with the community, helping out anywhere I can.

What are you least interested in doing as an admin?

Admining the bane of all evil, Goob LRP.

How do you feel about the current roleplay status on the servers?

I believe the roleplay quality on the servers is a little low, specifically on MRP. From what I’ve noticed, it is mostly caused by antags fear of not greentexting, resulting in them taking a more NRP approach often leading to a degraded roleplay experience for everyone else.

Other than banning problematic players, what admin actions do you believe have the biggest positive impact?

Definitely interactions with the community and mentoring new players. I believe minor admin help also serves a positive impact, so long as it helps facilitate better roleplay.

Have you ever had a good experience with the game or a game admin? If so, what was it?

Yes, I had plenty of good experiences with both the game and admins.

Game wise, there is nothing worth of a note besides the server being an enjoyable place overall. In regards to admins, one of the best experiences I’ve had is definitely Boggle’s survival event.

Have you ever had a negative experience in the game or with a game admin? If so, what, if anything, would you do to prevent other players from experiencing this?

No, so far I haven’t experienced any negative interactions with admins.

Scenario Questions

Scenario 1

It is the start of the round. There are 60 players on the server. The game mode is traitors, traitors have not been selected yet. There are three players who decided to observe the round instead of join it orbiting you. Two of them are encouraging you to “do something funny”.

I believe admin intervention in this situation wouldn’t be appropriate, as I think admin interference should be kept to a minimum. I would encourage the players to select a ghost role, or even consider returning them to the lobby so they can join the round if they wish so.

Scenario 2

This scenario takes place on LRP. The Head of Security has decided to coup the Captain. The Head of Personnel agrees with the Head of Security and has taken up arms in case it is necessary to aid in effecting the arrest of the Captain. The Captain is hiding with the Quartermaster in the cargo shuttle to avoid the Clown who has stolen the captains saber as a non-antag. There are five people named in this scenario. Please describe what actions, if any, you would take in relation to each, and why.

If the Head of Security has a valid reason to coup the Captain and they follow all of the procedures outlined in the SOP, there shouldn’t be any punishment issued. However, if there’s no reason for the coup and the severity is high enough, I would issue a roleban.

The Head of Personnel shouldn’t be taking up arms unless there’s a direct threat to their life, I believe a reprimand thru ahelp would be enough, as this isn’t a major violation.

In regards to the Quartermaster, I see no issues with their behavior unless the cargo shuttle has been taken for a long period and has started affecting the station. If that is the case I would warn them thru ahelp and attach a note, otherwise no action is necessary.

Moving onto the Captain, leaving the station on the cargo shuttle is a violation of SOP, and they should be reprimanded appropriately. Adding onto that, if the actions that caused the coup in the first place are severe enough, a roleban would be appropriate.

As for the clown, this is obvious self-antag behavior. If they have no prior notes for self-antagging, I would issue a warning.

Scenario 3

You are ahelping a player about an issue. The player has no prior noted issues. A few days earlier, an admin had told you that this type of situation should result in a temporary ban for a first offense, and you are confident that this situation is not substantially different from the type that admin was describing. During the ahelp, another admin pings you on Discord with a link to the ongoing ahelp and tells you to just indefinitely ban them and make them appeal. Excluding trialmins and headmins, all admins are equally “ranked”. A headmin is not currently available.

Before taking any action I would first double check the admin policy and verify what action is appropriate for the rule violation committed. Considering all admins are equal, I would be more than happy to discuss with the disagreeing admin. If need be, I’d ask another admin for their opinion as well.

Given the player has no prior notes or bans, and the situation roughly aligns with what the first admin described (and assuming the policy confirms the action needed), I would issue a temporary ban with the appropriate note.

Scenario 4

A brand new player has joined, chosen cargo tech, and instantly rushes to get satchel charges and other salvage gear. How do you act, if at all?

Considering this situation is slightly suspicious, I would definitely observe them, however I believe there’s no reason for any other action.

Scenario 5

A security officer, on code blue, spots a mime breaking into EVA, in response, he shoots the mime with lethal force then takes him to medical, in cuffs. How do you act, if at all, and to whom?

Assuming that the Security Officer has no other prior notes, and assuming that the mime isn’t displaying any hostile behavior nor is wanted or suspect for anything, I would warn the Security Officer thru ahelp and attach an appropriate note.

Scenario 6

A chief engineer has been slacking all round, generally ignoring the responsibilities of the department, despite meteors and gas leaks happening all round. How do you act towards them, if at all?

Before I take any action I would observe the Chief Engineer, if they are genuinely ignoring their responsibilities, this would be considered incompetence in a command role. Assuming they have no prior notes for this, I would question them thru ahelp, and if they have no valid excuses, I’d warn them and issue a note.

Scenario 7

You are adminning with 2 other admins, and recieve an aHelp, you start handling it when one of the others butts in to the aHelp correct you. How do you act, if at all?

I would first verify against the policy if the other admin is correct, and if they are I would proceed with whatever action is appropriate, and thank them for their correction.

Scenario 8

A passenger arrives on station and starts skulking around in maints. Not preparing weapons or breaking into places, but gathering tools, insulation gloves, wires, gas mask, batteries, etc. How do you act, if at all?

Nothing here warrants any intervention, I would observe them and take action if their behavior escalates into something actionable.

Scenario 9

You are playing as the HOS in-game when the only other admin online notifies you that they have to leave. Since you are an important figure, you decide to continue playing for the remainder of the round, going SSD when ahelps occur in order to deal with them. While playing, you arrest the clown for non-lethal assault against the HOP inside the medical bay. Just as you arrive at security with the clown in cuffs, you receive an ahelp from the CMO about their chemist blowing up chem. In order to investigate, you quickly hand the clown over to the warden and tell the warden to “deal with them.” While investigating the CMO’s ahelp, you then receive an ahelp about the warden beheading the cuffed clown. How do you act, if at all, and to whom?

I would prioritize the ahelp regarding the warden beheading the clown. I would question the warden thru ahelp, and if they have no valid explanation I would issue a warning along with a note or ban based on their previous history.

After that, I would return to CMO’s ahelp and also question the chemist, if they have no previous notes for self-antagging, and assuming this was an accident I would issue a warning.

Do you have any further notes or information we should know about you?

Apologies if the answers are slightly low-effort, but I am typing this with a fractured wrist and currently on pain meds after a crash :frowning: sorry!!!
