Keir's Game Administrator Application

Game Administrator Application

Start

In-game Username: Keir

Discord Username: K31R

Characters you play: Alice Gibbles, Heroin II

On average, how many hours do you expect to admin per week: 8 to 20

How old are you? 24

Do you have any SS14 experience outside of Goob Station servers, or any SS13 experience? I’ve played Monolith and I used to play funky for a while but left and came back to Goob due to their common comms change. (initially left goob for funky due to the stamina use on wideswing)

Do you have prior administration experience (SS13/SS14 experience preferred, please also post a way for us to verify this)?

Yes, I used to be a trialmin on funky station a year or two ago.

Have you ever been banned from any SS14 or SS13 servers?

No Permanent bans, i was banned from Delta V for a week a year or two ago for breaking into cargo to kill a rat king. (Rat kings weren’t considered antags until they attacked, i forgot that)

Detailed Questions

What role do you think game admins serve on our servers?

I think game admins are there to enforce the server’s rules and keep things fair and fun for everyone whilst also being there to help out with new players if they have any questions.

Why do you want to become an administrator for SS14?

I’ve been playing goob for a long while now and i’d like to help new players with any questions about different game mechanics.

What are you primarily interested in doing as an admin?

I’d say that i’m most eager to answer prayers and assisting players with issues that may arise.

What are you least interested in doing as an admin?

I’m not a fan of doing time transfers or ever adminning for LRP.

How do you feel about the current roleplay status on the servers?

I play on MRP exclusively and i feel that the roleplay has become a lot better recently. I used to see chefs just murderbone anyone who came in to the kitchen and build lockers to block shots from security and passengers just straight up destroy things but i see barely any of that nowadays.

Other than banning problematic players, what admin actions do you believe have the biggest positive impact?

Helping players with questions about game mechanics, especially if they’re new. Also being friendly in ahelps.

Have you ever had a good experience with the game or a game admin? If so, what was it?

Multiple good experiences with having prayers answered as chaplain and good manners and civility in ahelps.

Have you ever had a negative experience in the game or with a game admin? If so, what, if anything, would you do to prevent other players from experiencing this?

Sometimes it feels as if every other MRP shift has some sort of very noticeable admin intervention. I personally feel as if a more “hands off” approach is needed.

Scenario Questions

Scenario 1

It is the start of the round. There are 60 players on the server. The game mode is traitors, traitors have not been selected yet. There are three players who decided to observe the round instead of join it orbiting you. Two of them are encouraging you to “do something funny”.

Either make my ghost tiny enough that they can’t find me, turn their ghosts into felinids (fate worse than death), ignore them or tell them that they can just wait for ghost roles or take current ones that are usually not taken, like PAIs or mice.

Scenario 2

This scenario takes place on LRP. The Head of Security has decided to coup the Captain. The Head of Personnel agrees with the Head of Security and has taken up arms in case it is necessary to aid in effecting the arrest of the Captain. The Captain is hiding with the Quartermaster in the cargo shuttle to avoid the Clown who has stolen the captains saber as a non-antag. There are five people named in this scenario. Please describe what actions, if any, you would take in relation to each, and why.

Depending on whether or not the HoS had a valid reason to do a coup and they followed SOP, i would leave it to play out and not give any punishment. If there wasn’t any reason, i would however ahelp them and depending on their reasoning, warn or roleban them.

The HoP should only arm if they are directly threatened. I would likely just ahelp them about it.

The Captain shouldn’t be off station as is stated in SOP, so i’d likely ahelp them about that, potentially leading to a roleban.

The QM seems to not be breaking any rules unless they’re impeding cargo’s ability to get to the ATS.

The clown is straight up being a self antag. I’d warn them for that.

Scenario 3

You are ahelping a player about an issue. The player has no prior noted issues. A few days earlier, an admin had told you that this type of situation should result in a temporary ban for a first offense, and you are confident that this situation is not substantially different from the type that admin was describing. During the ahelp, another admin pings you on Discord with a link to the ongoing ahelp and tells you to just indefinitely ban them and make them appeal. Excluding trialmins and headmins, all admins are equally “ranked”. A headmin is not currently available.

Since all admins are equally ranked, i would use my own judgement and temp ban the player. I’d also be open to talking to the interfering admin about why they think otherwise. If i felt anyway unsure, i’d double check the banning policy before taking action.

Scenario 4

A brand new player has joined, chosen cargo tech, and instantly rushes to get satchel charges and other salvage gear. How do you act, if at all?

Keep an eye on them if possible. Very suspicious but they haven’t done anything rule breaking. If there has been an unusually high level of raiders, i would likely ahelp them and ask whey they’re going for salvager gear as a cargo tech. If the station needs resources, i would watch them.

Scenario 5

A security officer, on code blue, spots a mime breaking into EVA, in response, he shoots the mime with lethal force then takes him to medical, in cuffs. How do you act, if at all, and to whom?

Unless the mime had a KOS order from being a heretic or something similar, I would warn the secoff for escalation.

Scenario 6

A chief engineer has been slacking all round, generally ignoring the responsibilities of the department, despite meteors and gas leaks happening all round. How do you act towards them, if at all?

If they’ve been purposely ignoring their duties, i would ahelp them and ask what was going on. Maybe they’re not having a good day in real life or something similar. Depending on if i feel their reasoning is fair, i would either tell them to cryo, do their job or warn them for incompetence.

Scenario 7

You are adminning with 2 other admins, and recieve an aHelp, you start handling it when one of the others butts in to the aHelp correct you. How do you act, if at all?

If they were correcting me, i would assume i did something wrong and ask in admin chat what i did wrong and double check the warn/ban policy.

Scenario 8

A passenger arrives on station and starts skulking around in maints. Not preparing weapons or breaking into places, but gathering tools, insulation gloves, wires, gas mask, batteries, etc. How do you act, if at all?

Depends on their antag status, but I’d usually not interfere. If there’s nothing more urgent, I’d watch them for a bit to see if they’re just restoring maints bar or something similar.

Scenario 9

You are playing as the HOS in-game when the only other admin online notifies you that they have to leave. Since you are an important figure, you decide to continue playing for the remainder of the round, going SSD when ahelps occur in order to deal with them. While playing, you arrest the clown for non-lethal assault against the HOP inside the medical bay. Just as you arrive at security with the clown in cuffs, you receive an ahelp from the CMO about their chemist blowing up chem. In order to investigate, you quickly hand the clown over to the warden and tell the warden to “deal with them.” While investigating the CMO’s ahelp, you then receive an ahelp about the warden beheading the cuffed clown. How do you act, if at all, and to whom?

Ahelp the warden and find out why they beheaded the clown. If it was because I told them to ‘deal with them’ and they took that as to kill the clown, warn them for doing so and deal with the CMO’s ahelp. Sometimes people make mistakes, especially in chemistry which can lead to sodium and water mixing or something similar. I would use the chemist’s previous notes and what they did after the explosion to see if i needed to warn them or not.

Do you have any further notes or information we should know about you?

I’d prefer to stay on MRP exclusively if that was okay. Apologies for my inital lackluster application. I am autistic (not pulling the autism card, just giving context) and find forms and that type of stuff hard.

Don’t be afraid to put more than one sentence and maybe, just maybe make the answers longer than the questions themselves. We won’t kill you.

Sorry, have redone my application. Hope it’s better

If anything looks low-effort I keel you.
