On average, how many hours do you expect to admin per week: I am regularly on for around 5-12 hours a day, most days, but not always actively playing as I take brakes, eat and stuff or spectate in that time, sometimes I take a few days off, so maybe 10-40hours? Im not sure how much of my time I want to spend as an admin yet without experiencing it.

How old are you? 28 years old

Do you have any SS14 experience outside of Goob Station servers, or any SS13 experience? 604H Delta-V, 302H Starlight, 30h Rouny’s Marine Corps, 5h Frontier.

Started out on as my main server Delta, but left due to a bad experience.

I moved to Starlight for a better culture, and have had zero issues there, however I eventually missed playing as Fio my harpy.

Frontier allowed me be a harpy but I found it not to be the type of server I wanted due to how it is structured radically different from other servers, however I had no issues there.

I would play Rouny’s occasionally from time to time since I starting playing SS14, but it is not a server I regularly play on or would want to due to its round structure.

I migrated to Goob as my main server due to the fact it allowed me to play a Harpy again, and also found the the staff be the best of any server I have played on, being friendly, reasonable, fun, more helpful and active then on other servers, being significantly more active and helpful, where as on other servers it often feels like there is no admin presence, and A helps go unanswered.

I have like a week of experience messing and testing in a local test branch as I was working on stuff.

Do you have prior administration experience (SS13/SS14 experience preferred, please also post a way for us to verify this)?

no, I do not

Have you ever been banned from any SS14 or SS13 servers?

Yes, exclusively on Delta V on 4 occasions.

To Summarize.
2024-12-13 with 368.0 Hours of playtime on delta
“Banned from SecurityBorg, HeadOfSecurity, SecurityOfficer, SecurityCadet, Warden, PrisonGuard, Detective, Brigmedic for 3.00 days - As the Warden, Built an arcade machine and hide behind a locker to play it while a major zombie threat was occurring, instead of helping security and the station. Given the lack of Prior offences, a three day security roleban is being applied”

(I was a Rodentia Warden, and got an arcade machine bord in the mail, I opened the armory for sec and stayed in sec playing on the arcade machine till the zombies were delt with when the rest of sec destroyed the arcade machine and got made I didn’t come out to help as warden)

2024-12-18 with 382.7 Hours of playtime on delta
“Banned from PrisonGuard, Brigmedic, SecurityBorg, Detective, SecurityCadet, SecurityOfficer, HeadOfSecurity, Warden for 7.00 days - As Head of security, performed Suicide RP and killed themselves inside the Vault, not the only instance of offences.”

(First time Hos, I was supper overwhelmed by everything so I promoted the warden to acting HOS and then, killed myself. Delta has a zero self harm or suicide policy)

2025-5-01 with 588.4 Hours of playtime on delta
“Banned from the server for 2.00 hours - Rule B4 - 7 EORG, utilized a non-lethal grenade at CC, this is considered EORG and was done without reason. Thus the reason for the Ban.”

(^This is a stretching the rules of B4, I used it in the empty CC, effecting no-one and nothing and in the same round a prisoner at CC stole and used a flashbang on themself in their cell and didn’t get in trouble. Rather as it explained to me, there are unwritten rules that hold sec to higher standards that are not publicly available for players to know about. even though my ban was over by the time I appealed it and was denied, I felt this was a case of unequal, unlisted, arbitrary rule enforcement)

2025-5-02 with 590.1 Hours of playtime on delta
“Banned from the server for 24.00 hours - A.2: Got fired as corpsman minorly self antagged afterwards and told several people to kill themselves in local chat and common radio”

(^True I did violate A.2,But I only told one person over local: The rule braking warden after 2 hours of them breaking SOP, I didn’t even have access to a radio for over an hour leading up to this violation. I was locked in a cell alone or alone with the warden for the majority of the shift including when I stipulated for them to kill themselves for me to give up my quest for justice. I was cuffed with no radio being dragged having been dragged several tiles from the intercom they shut off the speaker for arguing directly with warden when this happened)

I have a spotless record on every other server with 7400+ Hours of playtime on SS14 as a whole.

Detailed Questions

What role do you think game admins serve on our servers?

To maintain a Fun environment by assisting players with issues, and addressing problems potentially problem players that make the game less fun for others by braking the rules, abusing things or other players, or making others uncomfortable. Based on the example of Boggle, I think Admins should be present to help players in need, and address problems quickly so everyone can go on having fun, I’m sure there is also event planning or stuff behind the curtain.

Why do you want to become an administrator for SS14?

Being honest, I just like the Goob Staff, and Boggle is kind of a remodel, I want to help people the way he does and just ensure that people have access to help and problems are being addressed quickly but fairly.

I also have a bit of a drive for Goob to be the better then Delta-V, witch it already is with Boggle alone, but boggle is one man… sorry I know the other admins are great to, but boggle outshines them in my mind I cant remember them right now…

What are you primarily interested in doing as an admin?

Helping players with Ahelps, Helping players in game, and maintaining a Fun environment, by addressing issues quickly.

What are you least interested in doing as an admin?

Banning people, I can do if needed, but its not something i would enjoy or want to do, I rather talk and give warnings or try to solve it in game before banning.

How do you feel about the current roleplay status on the servers?

A bit lacking expectably when it comes to sec, antagonists and stuff.
Personally I would like to see more hostage situations, negotiations, surrenders, prisoner taking and stuff instead of just, “no negotiations, no prisoners, no mercy kill kill kill” situation between the Sec(+Crew) and Antags.

Also when it comes to the value of life and stuff, its almost like there is none, like people don’t care about their allies or hostages or even their own lives a lot of the time. This has several points so it, but like first is the confidence in treatment, most people act like death is no nothing cuz you can always be revived or cloned or get a new body. People should value their current lives and bodies more, as well as their friends lives, Sec should care if any crew are taken hostage or in danger and not just command, cap should value the lives of the crew as whole, and not just be completely fine with their slaughter to win if like everyone is dead, likewise instead of killing a room of civilians a nukie should be able to take a room hostage and that mean more then oh their just a bunch of civies who cares, witch also kind of creates the dilemma for the civilians if cap or sec shows they dont care about their lives at all, acting as a rp que for the civilians, why should they fight and die for a cap who doesn’t care about their lives?
likewise players would have more incentive to negotiate with attackers then just accept death, of coarse that also needs the antags to not instantly kill them.. witch requires antages to be able to trust crew not to just kill or report them.

anyways there is also that fact that after emergencies especially if Evac is called like everyone forgets about the dead and just walks past the dead with out a care.

and lastly people don’t seem to think about being revived in a different body, med is to casual with cloning bodies for brain transplants if its easier to do so and often grind old bodies, like their are ways to derott and stuff but they are never used, same goes with pets, pet lives including important ones like renald or Ian are treated with zero value most of time. people should care about their bodies and pets, like you should be able to take caps fox hostage occasionally and have them show some value to their dear pets life.

Other than banning problematic players, what admin actions do you believe have the biggest positive impact?

Responding to Ahelps, is possibly the biggest as it makes players feel like your there and actually care and are willing to help, I does not feel nice when you go waiting for an Ahelp reply.

But I also think banning should be a last resort, should talk to them see if they know what they are doing is wrong or effecting others negatively, and give them a chance to fix, warning and potential in game punishments if it seems fitting.

Have you ever had a good experience with the game or a game admin? If so, what was it?

Lots of good experience with goob admins, particularly Boggle, in contract to other servers where you have good experiences with them, as they seem mostly absent unless your in trouble. on goob, if your having an issue weather it be with bug, problem player, or just needing help with a mechanic you get help usually within a few minutes, as opposed to not at all a lot of the time on other servers. most Recently I Ahelped cuz it was my first time as a heretic and I didn’t know how to make the things I bought the knowledge for, boggle didn’t know either but he offered to help teleporting to test area where we figured out how to made a magic circle thing and craft stuff.

Have you ever had a negative experience in the game or with a game admin? If so, what, if anything, would you do to prevent other players from experiencing this?

non on Goob, only on Delta, where I got a 2 hour ban for B4-7 EORG by using a nonlethal grenade in the CC armory where nobody was effected and no damage was caused, that same sound Garf also set off a flashbang in their cell at CC and didn’t get in trouble and they should not have have cuz the Rules Define EORG, and setting of a non lethal grenade in an empty room does not not fit that description, causing no harm or damage, not effecting anyone, I felt that was arbitrary enforcement off unwritten rules with out any positive outcome from the ban, in fact it let directly into my next ban heavily influenced by my resentment over the first one.
Witch leads to 2 more points, I spent around an hour and a half locked up by a SOP braking warden with no coms and almost no contact with anybody but the corrupt warden, much of that time I was cuffed or locked in a small room with no access to food or water, and there was no admin on to help, a combonation of prior ager at the last ban, my anger to the warden after 2hours of abuse and sop breaking and my loss of hope from the lack of help caused me to brake rule A2, respectful. when an admin did show up 2 hours in to the shift I reported the warden and confessed that I broke rule A2, and to their credit they did allow me to leave sec a free person and go to cryo before I served my 24 hour ban, and to my understanding that warden was punished, though far to late…
and the last point, is the admin remark they left was not accurate to the point of slander, I did violate A2, but I only said what I said to the warden, over local, I didn’t even have a radio or contact with anyone else, and was cuffed being dragged in an argument with the warden at the time, yet they recorded it as told several people over local and common radio, witch is not true.

What to do to prevent such issues:

  1. be familiar with the rules as written and ensure that that that what is written can be reasonably applied to the situation, not arbitrarily enforcing unwritten rules.
  2. be Present and available for those in need.
  3. make sure reports are accurate, avoid making assumptions or including uncertain details, stick with the core events of what happened.

Scenario Questions

Scenario 1

It is the start of the round. There are 60 players on the server. The game mode is traitors, traitors have not been selected yet. There are three players who decided to observe the round instead of join it orbiting you. Two of them are encouraging you to “do something funny”.

(being honest, I though traitor selection was random, not effected my admins.)
With the information I have present, I would be a bit against making the ghost the traitors if that is an option because they I’m left to wonder why they didn’t spawn normally with traitor enabled, wondering if they intended to scout as a ghost beforehand. I’m not sure if Admins can effect sales on a Traitors Uplink, but i may consider making sales on companions to create ghost rolls for them. this scenario doesn’t seem to have much to go by, I personally wouldn’t draw a connection between the game mode, them choosing to spawn as ghosts and asking me to do something funny, but I would definitely ask them to elaborate on what they mean and go from there, sorry if this isnt a good response, I just don’t see any issue that needs to be solved, and could need more context witch I would try to gather by talking to them.

Scenario 2

This scenario takes place on LRP. The Head of Security has decided to coup the Captain. The Head of Personnel agrees with the Head of Security and has taken up arms in case it is necessary to aid in effecting the arrest of the Captain. The Captain is hiding with the Quartermaster in the cargo shuttle to avoid the Clown who has stolen the captains saber as a non-antag. There are five people named in this scenario. Please describe what actions, if any, you would take in relation to each, and why.

I must admit I never play are LRP, But first I think I would try to find out the HOS’s justification for their Coup, if it seems reasonable for their situation, I would also like to know how this rift is effecting the rest of crew, it is not often command should, but I don’t think I would interfere unless it seems random, unjustified and harmful to the crew. I might Fax HOS or HOP bring up concerns with recent staff conflicts. As for Hop, I think its fine under the situation if their cause is justifiable.
I may contact he NTR from CC to access the situation.
Meanwhile I would want to know how Cap got in to this situation, any way they are off station hiding form a clown, and how that clown got their sword. if the clown has it cause cap was being stupid I think its fine specifly cuz they’re a clown and its funny as long as they are using it to attack damage stuff, if they are going a bit to far I may use admin functions to contact them and remind them being a clown is not a free pass to antag.
the Qm is fine, but I may try to contact in character first, or using admin tools if need, and encourage them to head back to the station, and they should not be hiding in space, they arnt doing their job, their disrupting things by hiding in space, besides its not fun if cap just hides in space. after accessing the situation and contacting both sides, I may try to give options to one or both sides, or find a middle ground if one is possible, and seems fitting or if its fitting seems like fun and neither side can justify itself and I’m aloud to I may start a event vote to for maybe death squad?
I see several options:
Leave things be, keeping an eye so they don’t derail the whole round in a unfun way or stall out it. (This would be the Preference)

Support Hos and Hop, potently providing help to capture cap if cap is just hiding in space if needed if they ask for it, I would also encourage Cap to head back and not stall things.

Support Cap, encouraging them to head back and take the station back, offering them options to help if needed like a ERT team if they can contact CC for it.

Encourage both providing both with options with out directly interfering or taking a side.

Encouraging them to work together, if the clown is the real issue, potently threatening them with death squad or something in character if they don’t get things in order

And death Squad as the last option witch could be fun thing for all the ghosts if there are a lot of dead if everyone votes for it. (I’m not entirely sure how death Squad works on goob, if it is appropriate to use if command is misbehaving)

essentially my goal would be to prevent the round from stalling or becoming unfun, I would want to see how the rest of crew is feeling and maybe ask the ghosts their thoughts and if we should let it play out or not. Preferably I would like to have an in game solution, not banning anyone, just maybe letting them know if they are taking things to far and offering advice.
The main problem I am seeing with just the details provided is the captain does seen, unsuited and may be stalling the round by hiding in space. so that’s the main thing we would want to address is get them back to station, so things can play out whose ever favor that might me. if no one is particularly problematic, I may just remind them at the with admin anointments for better command conduct in the future.
Over all I would hope I wound not have to intervene.

Scenario 3

You are ahelping a player about an issue. The player has no prior noted issues. A few days earlier, an admin had told you that this type of situation should result in a temporary ban for a first offense, and you are confident that this situation is not substantially different from the type that admin was describing. During the ahelp, another admin pings you on Discord with a link to the ongoing ahelp and tells you to just indefinitely ban them and make them appeal. Excluding trialmins and headmins, all admins are equally “ranked”. A headmin is not currently available.

Preferably I would like to let them off with a warning(admin remark), talk to them and try to make sure they are aware of the problem and will try to avoid doing whatever they did in the feature, However I would consult with the other admins who are online first bring up what I would like to do, and seeing if that is acceptable to them, if its not, I would go with what the admin told me a few days ago about similar situations, and go for a temp ban after talking with the player explaining why they are getting banned and attempting to clarify details before writing an admin remark, if another admin of the same rank then attempted to interfere with my ahelp, and tells me to indefinably ban the person, I might ask why, but I would tell them I have it handled, and that its my case, I’ll handle it.
Then I would do as I’ve learned in the past and still do the temp ban.

Scenario 4

A brand new player has joined, chosen cargo tech, and instantly rushes to get satchel charges and other salvage gear. How do you act, if at all?

if they seem brand brand new to the game, I may Ahelp them, and Ask if they they need any help and are interested in learning, warning them against doing salvage if they are brand new and inform that is not their job, and they can unlock the job after playing a bit more and getting used to things.
This does a few things, first of it all it lets them know they are being watched if they have bad intentions.
It encourages them to do their assigned job, and offers to help them learn if they are sincere.
However as they seem to know what they are doing and where things are already, I’d already be suspect of them.
so over all I’m Still contacting them on ahelp as before, this lets them know I’m watching, if they do anything sus after that, I may freeze them for a sec and Ahelp them again warning them not to so selfantag and that if they do, after i warned them not to use the bomb, I will ban them, I would then unfreeze then if I froze then and watch them, if they bomb something, I would freeze them ahelp them telling them what they did and why Im banning them, and would then do an appropriate ban and erase their character from existence if needed and seems fitting.
(as Im not an admin yet and don’t know what that is, I would do an indefinite ban, and tell them they can appeal it, this is because by antaging after being warned they show they are malicious, and should be removed before they can cause more issues, I would prefer to consult other admins first but if there are none at the time, I would not want to under ban or over ban them, or change the length of an existing ban after the fact once I learned what to do, so by making it indefinite with the option to appeal the length of the ban can be decided during the appeal process.)

Scenario 5

A security officer, on code blue, spots a mime breaking into EVA, in response, he shoots the mime with lethal force then takes him to medical, in cuffs. How do you act, if at all, and to whom?

I may Ahelp the officer and ask if they know what they did was wrong and offer guidance on behavior, for the future, I wont remark them unless they act belligerent, if they do I might so can keep track of their behavior to see if it repeats.
I would no start an Ahelp to the mime, but I would be ready for one if they wanted to report the sec off for not following Sop, I would let them know i talked to them about it may council them to seek address the issue in game, such as letting Hos know.

Scenario 6

A chief engineer has been slacking all round, generally ignoring the responsibilities of the department, despite meteors and gas leaks happening all round. How do you act towards them, if at all?

I would ahelp them informing them that by playing as command they are expected to be competent at their job and fulfill certain responsibilities, and that they are not doing them them, I would let them know as I gave them a tempory role ban from command for what seems appropriate based on what i learned to become admin, and would talk to them to see what is going with them.

Scenario 7

You are adminning with 2 other admins, and recieve an aHelp, you start handling it when one of the others butts in to the aHelp correct you. How do you act, if at all?

I would consider what iv learned as an Admin and what they said, thank them, if it seems suitable I may offer for them to take over, if not I will ask them to let me handle it, if it seems to be a point of conflict we cant agree on, I would message them outside of the Ahelp, and ask them to not to argue in front of the player, asking them let me handle it or potentially consulting the 3ed admin who is on, or offering to talk about it and consult with other admins later to clarify the issue in the future.

Scenario 8

A passenger arrives on station and starts skulking around in maints. Not preparing weapons or breaking into places, but gathering tools, insulation gloves, wires, gas mask, batteries, etc. How do you act, if at all?

I don’t, at most I may take a mental note, but they sound like a normal tider and havent do anything wrong or done anything to question.

Scenario 9

You are playing as the HOS in-game when the only other admin online notifies you that they have to leave. Since you are an important figure, you decide to continue playing for the remainder of the round, going SSD when ahelps occur in order to deal with them. While playing, you arrest the clown for non-lethal assault against the HOP inside the medical bay. Just as you arrive at security with the clown in cuffs, you receive an ahelp from the CMO about their chemist blowing up chem. In order to investigate, you quickly hand the clown over to the warden and tell the warden to “deal with them.” While investigating the CMO’s ahelp, you then receive an ahelp about the warden beheading the cuffed clown. How do you act, if at all, and to whom?

I would tell them both over Ahelp, I am Managing multiple Ahelps, I would start try find a solution to Cmo’s problem quickly preferring not to ban the chemist unless they are a blatant antag, still unless the chemist was an active threat I would put that on the back burner telling the Cmo I will hand it then turning my attention to the warden and clown, I would let the Ahelper, I assume the clown know I am handling it.
approaching the issue in character I would talk to the warden explain the issue and why as I am likely firing them, If that does solve the issue or satisfy the Ahelper I may Ahelp the warden explain how they broke sop rather egregiously and that by playing warden you are held to certain standards they failed to uphold and that I may have to role ban them for a bit. I would get the brigmed to fix the clown let them clown go and turn my attention back to the chemist who I would try to investigate to see what they did since, likly handle in character getting sec to look for them and bring them in, depending on their level of maliciousness, and self antaging I may talk to them ooc and issue a warning, roleban or server ban or whatever seems fitting based on what I learned as an admin.

Do you have any further notes or information we should know about you?

I think not.

I mend to say “I Don’t think I would interfere unless it seems random”… and stuff.

I types to much to be able to edit it, If i try to fix my typing mistakes it says I’m over the character limit

The character limit has been extended, so you should be able to type more.

The edit option is gone now it seems, is it possible for to be deleted and I make a new one?

Sure i can just close this when you make the new one or just post the new one in the comments

You should be able to edit, now.

I edited it to fix some typing mistakes and also make it less slightly long and wordy
