Ban reason: Oversec + command incomp 2nd offence 9D roleban
Ban issue: What I was banned/noted for is not against the rules.
Events leading to the ban
During this round I was Captain. Multiple command members, primarily the HoS and the AI, were reporting an active revolutionary situation, and common radio included messages such as “revs go loud.” Based on this, I reasonably believed a revolution was in progress.
At the same time, command integrity had already collapsed. A changeling monkey vented into my room, stole my clothes, and attempted to impersonate me. While I was addressing this, the BSO sided with the monkey and nearly critted me. Additionally, my captain laser had been stolen earlier in the shift, and one of the individuals actively discussing the alleged revolution was likely armed with it.
Given this context, I detained a crewmember outside the bridge and escorted them to Security for a mindshield check. They complied with detention but explicitly refused the mindshield and provided no explanation, even after being given time to reconsider. Under SOP during a suspected revolution, refusal of a mindshield constitutes hostile noncompliance and permits lethal force with Captain authorization. As Captain, I authorized and carried out the execution.
This was not some kind of command incompetence where I just killed a tider for no reason. Escalation was followed, Security was present, and I immediately ordered the crewmember’s revival after implanting the mindshield. The NT Representative present did not object to the execution. My intent was station security and compliance, not punishment or grief.
It was later confirmed that no revolutionaries existed and the situation resulted from self-antag behavior by the crew. While the outcome was unfortunate, I acted in good faith based on the information available at the time. This was flawed intelligence, not malicious intent or rule abuse. I would also like to note that prior to the self-antag claims of a revolution, there were already incidents of crew trespassing into the Head of Personnel’s office and behaving aggressively toward me, indicating early hostility toward command staff.
Reason the ban should be removed
I believe my actions were consistent with captain responsibilities under crisis conditions, even though the initial premise turned out to be false. As Captain, I acted on good-faith intelligence provided by the HoS and the AI; verifying the existence of revolutionaries is part of their security role, and I had no reason at the time to believe their reports were unreliable. There was no safe or practical way to independently confirm without already treating the threat as real.
