There are times when we’ve asked in some appeals for people to get a “vouch” from another server.
How it works may be different from appeal to appeal. Any information in this post is intended as a general guide and may vary depending on your appeal or situation. This post aims to provide clarity on how it “usually” works and address some FAQs.
Why did I get a voucher ban?
You either had a poor record that clearly wasn’t going to improve, evaded a ban, or there may be another reason.
If you’ve received a voucher ban due to us believing you’re not a good fit for the community at the moment, but didn’t evade your ban before we reached a decision, we usually inform you that you’ve received a soft voucher ban, and that you can only re-appeal after two months, and not without a voucher.
If you’ve evaded your ban or have shown you’ve not improved after your two-month voucher ban, you may receive another, but you’ll face a 6-month waiting period before you can create a ban appeal, which, of course, requires a voucher of good behavior.
We will not unban you without a voucher under any circumstances, unless the ban was a mistake.
Which server(s)?
We generally prefer a Space Station 13/14 server where the rules and environment are closer to ours, but this depends on the ban in question. An MRP or HRP server might be suitable for LRP-style play and bans, for instance. In general, it doesn’t matter a considerable amount, although it should be a relatively long-term and decent playercount server - not one your friend hosted, obviously. English-language servers are also generally needed to facilitate communication with the admins there.
Lifeweb is absolutely, however, not one. NRP servers are also invalid.
It is recommended that you ask the head(s) of the server you are attempting to receive a voucher from if they do vouchers at all. This can save you time, as you likely wouldn’t want to hear that they don’t give out vouchers after you’ve been playing for a month.
How do I get a vouch?
The admins on the server in question may be willing to message one of ours, or we can contact them ourselves to ask. This is generally pretty simple - we ask them if you have been an awesome person full of sunshine (or at least good enough of one) or not while over there. The response is generally pretty straightforward and obvious - if you haven’t been banned or run into issues there, you’ll be fine.
Remember, being insistent or rude about it is a terrible idea.
What should a vouch include?
Generally, we care only that you’ve followed the rules throughout the period without incurring a poor record. If you played on another server at that time and have 0 notes, bans, and the admins don’t even recognize your name, that’s pretty much perfect (Assuming you played a decent amount of hours). It’s by no means a requirement to go unnoticed, but it’s usually a good sign that you are willing to follow the rules.
How do I get a vouch from Goob Station for another server that asked me to?
Send a message to the HGA group. Contacting a Head Game Admin is usually best, as we can easily provide proof of your admin remarks and give a proper voucher for good behavior.
This whole system is stupid, and you’re stupid for doing it!
Too bad.
Isn’t this Paradise Station’s post on vouches, but edited-
Yes. Yes, it is.
