On average, how many hours do you expect to admin per week: Around 5-10 max if im not busy, I could possibly do more.
How old are you? 18+
Do you have any SS14 experience outside of Goob Station servers, or any SS13 experience? I have had alot of experience with both ss13 and ss14 for over 2-3 years now, not as active as I use to be when playing as I do burn out at times. Although I have had a rough path with some of the community I still was a figure in some communities and had a great time with the members and so.
Do you have prior administration experience (SS13/SS14 experience preferred, please also post a way for us to verify this)?
Yes I do, I was a ex-head admin for starlight MRP server till I left and rejoined again. I have a positive experience with administrating and hopefully I can keep up with that positive act.
To verify you can always just ask the current head-admins or manager (grapegifter) or just check my role of being a current administrator.
Have you ever been banned from any SS14 or SS13 servers?
I sadly have been banned from some servers in both ss13/ss14 but over those times I have changed and have gotten better as a player.
Detailed Questions
What role do you think game admins serve on our servers?
Game admins are there to ensure a players within a server are all having fun with little to no rule breakers ruining the experience of another player just because they felt like it. Game admins can also be a way of connecting with the community better and allowing them to see and have good reasons to stay within that community.
Why do you want to become an administrator for SS14?
As ive stated I really loved this community and I still do and I really would just love to contribute more to it than just being there as a player, I really wished I could do more than just sittin around and playing.
What are you primarily interested in doing as an admin?
To be fair I’m more interested in being a admin in the goob community as when I first joined I really enjoyed the community and wanted to be more of a figure but never achieved it as I wasn’t active much due to real life issues and all and I would just like to give it another shot to be a better member of this community and contribute more to the growth of goob even if I am not that useful or active
What are you least interested in doing as an admin?
Least things that I’m interesting doing is just dealing with really complicated situations that would involve serious stuff relating to possible doxing and stuff relating to that, Last time I did something like that I felt really uncomfortable and just did not feel right.
How do you feel about the current roleplay status on the servers?
So over time I notice a lot of change happen between the game and the player base becoming more LRP+ which just fits right for a LRP based server, not players being shitty for the fun of it or any of what happened midway last year.
Other than banning problematic players, what admin actions do you believe have the biggest positive impact?
A positive impact a admin can do within a community is to bring it together with events making both players and admins connect with one another having fun with whats happening
Have you ever had a good experience with the game or a game admin? If so, what was it?
For experiences I have had with admins so far it would be with monkestation admins, If I recall it was when I was a blueshield and I returned to the game remembering nothing to no info on how to play the role didnt know I was breaking a rule by following orders from command like I was a butler admin came to us for the shit show we did and punished us via IC with RP and CC. Had a good laugh during that round.
Have you ever had a negative experience in the game or with a game admin? If so, what, if anything, would you do to prevent other players from experiencing this?
Only negative experience I have had was a admin pm’ing me about a name that was within naming rules and ignoring me when I told them that it wasnt breaking rules changed my name didn’t give me a note or anything and ignored any other pms relating to my name change. What I would do is the opposite of what that admin did, first off as a admin you shouldn’t even be ignoring pms when you were the one who ahelped them in the first place.
Scenario Questions
Scenario 1
It is the start of the round. There are 60 players on the server. The game mode is traitors, traitors have not been selected yet. There are three players who decided to observe the round instead of join it orbiting you. Two of them are encouraging you to “do something funny”.
I would most likely say no to the said players and move on from them and ignore them as my task as a admin is not to mess with a round unless it was a admeme or a event, and even so I would be following how the event or admeme should be going unless given the permission to add something in funny.
Scenario 2
This scenario takes place on LRP. The Head of Security has decided to coup the Captain. The Head of Personnel agrees with the Head of Security and has taken up arms in case it is necessary to aid in effecting the arrest of the Captain. The Captain is hiding with the Quartermaster in the cargo shuttle to avoid the Clown who has stolen the captains saber as a non-antag. There are five people named in this scenario. Please describe what actions, if any, you would take in relation to each, and why.
First off how and in what way did the clown “steal” the captains sabre, was it by slipping the captain while they were holding it and is the clown threating and attempting to kill the captain with their weapon?
Lets say the clown did steal the captains sabre from pickpocketing it could be done as a joke as its the clown job to mess around with people, but if the said clown uses that sabre to try kill the captain then this would be a instant Ahelp for self-Antag which can lead up to a 7 day ban.
Next off the captain shouldn’t be off station (stated in guidebooks and such) they should always remain on station with the disk at all times, now I wouldn’t say this should lead up to a warn or ban but should be briefly be told to return back to station and deal with their issue and the QM I wouldn’t do anything about them.
Now finally the HOP and HOS would need a good reason for why they are attempting to overthrow the captain and even if their reasons are justifiable it would still result in a minor self-antag ban as they are attempting to revolt against the captain.
Scenario 3
You are ahelping a player about an issue. The player has no prior noted issues. A few days earlier, an admin had told you that this type of situation should result in a temporary ban for a first offense, and you are confident that this situation is not substantially different from the type that admin was describing. During the ahelp, another admin pings you on Discord with a link to the ongoing ahelp and tells you to just indefinitely ban them and make them appeal. Excluding trialmins and headmins, all admins are equally “ranked”. A headmin is not currently available.
Now with little to no info about the issue and this being vague I would mainly ignore both statements made and go off the banning policy, there is nothing else I would do other than that.
Scenario 4
A brand new player has joined, chosen cargo tech, and instantly rushes to get satchel charges and other salvage gear. How do you act, if at all?
Because they are new I would go a bit lenient on the player and give them a warning for abandoning their role and would tell them to follow their role and not to take from other jobs if not returned it could lead to a ban.
Scenario 5
A security officer, on code blue, spots a mime breaking into EVA, in response, he shoots the mime with lethal force then takes him to medical, in cuffs. How do you act, if at all, and to whom?
Depending on what’s going on the station the mime might have a justified reason to be breaking in, however on the other hand the security officer used over escalation which is around a warning to 7 day ban. I would briefly check the security’s reason of the oversedation if it was not a justified reason I would take action to warn via ban or note.
Scenario 6
A chief engineer has been slacking all round, generally ignoring the responsibilities of the department, despite meteors and gas leaks happening all round. How do you act towards them, if at all?
Pm the said member who has been ignoring their job and would warn them that they are being role banned for incompetence and the reason why I call it incompetence is due to them ignoring their job as a chief engineer who is refusing to fix the issues or even call out and assist with patching issues around the station. Their RB would depend if they have received other warnings relating to incompetence which would last from a warning to perma RB
Scenario 7
You are adminning with 2 other admins, and recieve an aHelp, you start handling it when one of the others butts in to the aHelp correct you. How do you act, if at all?
I would move to admin chat or the admin function in ahelp box to talk with the admin to not jump in mid ahelp without using the features we are given so we don’t cause confusion between players and so that I can get the correct information and then continue with the Ahelp and handle the ahelp properly.
Scenario 8
A passenger arrives on station and starts skulking around in maints. Not preparing weapons or breaking into places, but gathering tools, insulation gloves, wires, gas mask, batteries, etc. How do you act, if at all?
I wouldn’t do much about this, might be a bit suspicious as first as they might start powergaming and preparing to break in places or even self-antag with the given tools they have. Most I would do is to check in that said player often to see if they are breaking rules then again this depends on what server this is taking place.
Scenario 9
You are playing as the HOS in-game when the only other admin online notifies you that they have to leave. Since you are an important figure, you decide to continue playing for the remainder of the round, going SSD when ahelps occur in order to deal with them. While playing, you arrest the clown for non-lethal assault against the HOP inside the medical bay. Just as you arrive at security with the clown in cuffs, you receive an ahelp from the CMO about their chemist blowing up chem. In order to investigate, you quickly hand the clown over to the warden and tell the warden to “deal with them.” While investigating the CMO’s ahelp, you then receive an ahelp about the warden beheading the cuffed clown. How do you act, if at all, and to whom?
Now see admin policy 2.1 applies to this situation with the warden and so I would need approval from a headmin or to request a admin to assist with this if one is available.
My reason of not involving my self with this the beheading is 1 it was somewhat my fault as I said “deal with them” which can imply two things; to kill them or to arrest them. 2nd of all I did arrest the clown in the first place and those are my two reasons why I cannot handle the issue with clowns beheading.
Right after I would finish the investigation with CMO and continue the round and go back (obviously without having knowledge of what happened)
