On average, how many hours do you expect to admin per week: 12-ish, but my work week changes a lot

How old are you? 25

Do you have any SS14 experience outside of Goob Station servers, or any SS13 experience? 51H on Delta-V, some time on monolith,(Won’t let me connect for some reason but it was enough for command and whitelist) 12 hours on RMC, and 80+ hours on TGstation/beestation.

Do you have prior administration experience (SS13/SS14 experience preferred, please also post a way for us to verify this)?

Nope!

Have you ever been banned from any SS14 or SS13 servers?

I’ve been banned from here, and flagged a false ban on TG.

Detailed Questions

What role do you think game admins serve on our servers?

I believe they serve as enforcers, but also as people who are meant to make the round more enjoyable for the general server. Ultimately, I feel admins are meant to be like DMS, ensuring the round continues when it has bumps or to spice it up.

Why do you want to become an administrator for SS14?

I want to help make these servers more fun, and more welcoming to newer players. Another goal of mine is to help end the belief that our servers are just “NRP shittery” so that the effort that the players, coders, and admins do can truly shine.

What are you primarily interested in doing as an admin?

I’m interested in looking over the server and making sure it stays (somewhat) alive. Plus, I feel like it would be fun to do admin events and grant tokens! Also, I already enjoy looking at the round from above, so thats just a added benefit.

What are you least interested in doing as an admin?

I personally don’t want to deal with the mald Ahelps, and the general toxicity of the fanbase because as a player, I can just wait for the round to end, but as an admin, I have to actively be a mediator.

How do you feel about the current roleplay status on the servers?

MRP feels pretty good! I enjoy them to the point for a while i stopped playing on lrp, but there’s a charm to alpha that I missed. As for LRP, I feel it could HEAVILY be improved, as compared to other LRP servers, we seem to be lacking. I feel the interaction and antagonist conduct could be worked on, with the netspeak a contender as well.

Other than banning problematic players, what admin actions do you believe have the biggest positive impact?

Admin abuse tokens! As weird as it sounds, these small jokes caused by admins make rounds much more interesting, and let them break free from the work<shittery<death pipeline! Another big one is the little interactions like announcements or faxes.

Have you ever had a good experience with the game or a game admin? If so, what was it?

Yes! A while back, I had talked to brizby about some questions I had while playing atmos, and got a quick response. Their overall attitude was helpful and kind, and helped me when I needed it explained slower.(turns out bottlenecks exist) Once that was explained, I was easily able to set up a station-powering TEG.

Have you ever had a negative experience in the game or with a game admin? If so, what, if anything, would you do to prevent other players from experiencing this?

Don’t think i have!

Scenario Questions

Scenario 1

It is the start of the round. There are 60 players on the server. The game mode is traitors, traitors have not been selected yet. There are three players who decided to observe the round instead of join it orbiting you. Two of them are encouraging you to “do something funny”.

Likely, I would talk to the other admins present about any things they think might spice up the round, and possibly do something tame. If there are no other admins present, I will simply ignore them or say something along the lines of “if you wanted funny, you should have played the round.”

Scenario 2

This scenario takes place on LRP. The Head of Security has decided to coup the Captain. The Head of Personnel agrees with the Head of Security and has taken up arms in case it is necessary to aid in effecting the arrest of the Captain. The Captain is hiding with the Quartermaster in the cargo shuttle to avoid the Clown who has stolen the captains saber as a non-antag. There are five people named in this scenario. Please describe what actions, if any, you would take in relation to each, and why.

Well, as a starter, the QM has done nothing wrong and shouldn’t be persecuted. As for the HOS, it depends if he has a genuine reason to, and it wasn’t done on a whim. If there is a valid reason, then they should continue, but if no valid reason is there, action could be taken due to command incompetency.(?) The captain could warrant action depending on what the coup is for. The HOP should NOT have a gun on anything less than red, or do secs job, that should be noted. As for the clown…
Idk, were they hurting people with it? I’m really not sure how you persecute a clown.

Scenario 3

You are ahelping a player about an issue. The player has no prior noted issues. A few days earlier, an admin had told you that this type of situation should result in a temporary ban for a first offense, and you are confident that this situation is not substantially different from the type that admin was describing. During the ahelp, another admin pings you on Discord with a link to the ongoing ahelp and tells you to just indefinitely ban them and make them appeal. Excluding trialmins and headmins, all admins are equally “ranked”. A headmin is not currently available.

I would do a temp ban for the reasons. The first is my habit of hoping for the best, and that I would believe they simply made a mistake, which is fair considering their spotless history. The latter reason is because the person on discord almost seems like they want it over with quickly, and a person should not be penalized further for an admins personal feelings.

Scenario 4

A brand new player has joined, chosen cargo tech, and instantly rushes to get satchel charges and other salvage gear. How do you act, if at all?

Not sure if this works like SS13, but if it does i would check if their IP has any other accounts that connect with it, and if not, I would check on how they use them and their understanding of the games controls. Realistically, a new player wouldn’t know what salv gear is, but it’s best to wait until you have definitive proof.

Scenario 5

A security officer, on code blue, spots a mime breaking into EVA, in response, he shoots the mime with lethal force then takes him to medical, in cuffs. How do you act, if at all, and to whom?

First, a big difference is if the mime is an antagonist. If so, I won’t Ahelp the mime. As to whether i do as a nonantag is up to whether it’s LRP or MRP and if there was a valid reason to. (spacings, Gimmicks, ETC.) Next, is martial law in effect? If so, then no action needs to be taken, same with if the mime was uncontainable, had a past with sec in the round, or had Antag gear out in the open. If none of those are applicable, then I would Ahelp the Security Officer.

Scenario 6

A chief engineer has been slacking all round, generally ignoring the responsibilities of the department, despite meteors and gas leaks happening all round. How do you act towards them, if at all?

I would first message to find out if they had a reason to, like being busy OOC. Next, I would check if the problems got resolved by other members of engineering. If they haven’t, then I’d put a note for command incompetence, or just warn then in Ahelp if they did get fixed.

Scenario 7

You are adminning with 2 other admins, and recieve an aHelp, you start handling it when one of the others butts in to the aHelp correct you. How do you act, if at all?

Are they correct? If they corrected me and kept me from sounding like a complete idiot or banning someone falsely, I’d thank them afterwards.

Scenario 8

A passenger arrives on station and starts skulking around in maints. Not preparing weapons or breaking into places, but gathering tools, insulation gloves, wires, gas mask, batteries, etc. How do you act, if at all?

I’d wait, as I don’t think our server has rules against that. If they started attacking people or being an obnoxious tider, I’d probably warn them to stop before any action has to be taken.

Scenario 9

You are playing as the HOS in-game when the only other admin online notifies you that they have to leave. Since you are an important figure, you decide to continue playing for the remainder of the round, going SSD when ahelps occur in order to deal with them. While playing, you arrest the clown for non-lethal assault against the HOP inside the medical bay. Just as you arrive at security with the clown in cuffs, you receive an ahelp from the CMO about their chemist blowing up chem. In order to investigate, you quickly hand the clown over to the warden and tell the warden to “deal with them.” While investigating the CMO’s ahelp, you then receive an ahelp about the warden beheading the cuffed clown. How do you act, if at all, and to whom?

Yikes.
I would ask the warden their reasoning on it, because even vague words shouldn’t be interpreted as something against SOP and the rules. If there is a valid thought process, I’d let them go warning them about security standards. If not, a sec ban would be reasonable.

Do you have any further notes or information we should know about you?

I wanna be in the 1984 crew…
