Events leading to the ban
I was looking for the wizard in the cargo department because he had been seen around there. Then a cargo crew member appeared wearing a wizard suit, let us inside, and started selling wizard equipment. After that, an officer showed up, started threatening the cargo crew member, and then began hitting him with a stun baton. I helped the cargo crew member by dragging him for about two seconds. After that, I was already being ahelped, so I stood still and answered the admin messages until I got game banned.
Reason the ban should be removed
I don’t want to crash out, but I think this ban is completely unreasonable. First, this is not normally considered self-antag. Self-antag is generally used when a non-antagonist causes significant harm or actively interferes with security while they are dealing with real antagonists. What I did would be considered a minor crime under Space Law, essentially a disturbance, specifically obstructing authorities. Second, there was no emergency or active threat at the time. The wizard was already dead. The cargo crew member simply had some of the wizard’s equipment (robes and some other stuff, nothing deadly). There was no ongoing danger to the station, and nothing I did could have meaningfully disrupted the round because the main antagonist had already been eliminated. Third, even if you consider this self-antag, the level of interference was extremely minor. It would be comparable to someone slipping a security officer with a banana peel while they’re chasing a suspect. That’s about the extent of the impact I had. Things like that happen almost every shift, and I don’t think they’re worthy of a three-day ban. Atleast I don’t see clowns getting banned for slipping security. Fourth, I think what happened after the incident is also relevant. After I dragged the cargo crew member for about two seconds and let go, the security officer started shooting. Another cargo crew member, who was also a non-antagonist as far as I know, joined in and started fighting the officer. At that point, the officer completely ignored the cargo crew member wearing the wizard equipment and instead focused on beating the other cargo crew member into crit with a polymer baton before dragging him away. The person I briefly helped was no longer a priority to security at all. They literally left him behind and focused on someone else. So what I did clearly wasn’t important enough to affect security’s response. The cargo crew member wearing the wizard equipment was a greater concern than I was, and the other cargo crew member who attacked security was unquestionably more disruptive if he wasn’t an antagonist. Meanwhile, the admin was busy talking to me while all of this was happening. By the time I was banned, everything seemed to have calmed down. Security wasn’t even after me, yet I still received a three-day ban. To summarize, I received the maximum-length ban for a second offense because I dragged someone who was being arrested for approximately two seconds. Security immediately ignored that person anyway, there was no active emergency, and the main antagonist was already dead. I think this ban should be removed because it is disproportionate to what actually happened. I also don’t know why this was classified as self-antag. Self-antag could be applied to players who actively assist real antagonists, seriously obstruct security, or fight security in a way that meaningfully impacts their ability to deal with actual threats. None of that happened here. There was no complaint from security over the radio, and I am 100% certain I was not ahelped by the arresting officer. The admin chose to intervene on their own. I think this ban is stupid for what happened, and I obviously want the ban to be removed.
