Ban reason: Too much bad blood, people are uncomfortable and there's been too much personal dredging and shit flinging
Ban issue: I did what I was banned for, but the ban is unreasonably harsh.
Events leading to the ban
I saw that the Command Capes were merged on github one day, I had previously seen these designs and did not like them and believed they did not fit the art style of goob. I pressed “revert PR” and that was supposedly that.
When I created this revert PR it was all about the capes and nothing to do with the creator although there seems to have been belief my original intentions were to get one over on the creator but it’s hard to prove motivations so I supposed you can take me at my word or not.
Some time later I was made aware of a tirade against me made by Amped, who was not the creator of these sprites and was not involved in the process at all. I will not divulge all details as this tirade was made in the admin discord however it was Amped calling out me and my friends assuming that I was not acting alone in my decision and this was part of some grand plot against Amped & Rer due to some beef I wasn’t even aware existed. I had retired from the admin team 3 weeks prior and Rer had wished me well, I do not remember if Amped said anything but I left the team with no inclination that there was belief of bubbling issues. I left due to my own reasons.
This topic blew up and became extremely heated resulting in a revert revert PR and you know where this kind of shit goes. Router I believe made a discussion thread in the Ivory Tower discord and here there was a large argument between myself and Amped (And others like Jack Pierson but I do not speak for that idiot nor did I ask him to start flinging shit for me).
After the argument, which I will admit I probably went too far in, I reached out to Rer to personally apologise for dragging her into it as the reality was it was no longer about capes but instead about beef between myself and Amped. Everything seemed good, I went to bed and over the next few hours Rer sent multiple messages to me each time with tonal shifts which got more negative with each iteration. Realising it was Amped figuratively at the keyboard when I woke up I simply elected to block both of them on Discord and move on as I felt this was pointless to continue.
The next day I received a ban message stating the above and later Rouge explained that it was on the personal request of Amped.
Reason the ban should be removed
There are a number of reasons why I believe the ban is too harsh/should not be upheld any longer:
- The ban was placed due to the “discomfort” Amped & Rer had with my continued presence within the Goob discord, however the very next day they both departed SS14 entirely making the given reason redundant.
- The argument and all of the vitriol between two individuals occurred in Ivory Tower, a server that cross bans have historically not been enforced on unless an individual has done some very heinous shit that warrants a full community removal.
- In the advent of this, I have been accused of “doxxing” by multiple individuals. Doxxing is a serious accusation and even in some cases an illegal act. The individuals who have engaged in such accusations have not been punished and even in the case of one has now been promoted to Trialmin, so at the very least having an avenue to defend myself from such accusations would be a nice reprive.
- The simplest reason is that ultimately when I retired from my staff position it wasn’t done with the intention of leaving the community in it’s entirety. My personal beef with a singular ex-member of staff shouldn’t result in a permanent removal from the community as I believe it is slightly extreme.
It has been just over 3 weeks since my ban was placed as I felt it best to let dust settle and tensions simmer down before making this appeal.
